Uh.. did you read the post above? Assuming its accurate.

The biggest chance is CHI gets, 9th pick, then 8th pick, then top4 pick, then 10th pick.

The 8th being their best pick (our best) ... before going to the top four .. I’m including the 9th and 10th friend :)

If you don't see Chicago's logo being pulled from the envelope on picks 12-8, we lost the pick. Not likely to happen but you never know I guess.

Nail bitter for sure June 22

Well yeah. That's what pick protections are for.

If a team doesn't pick 15th above then that pick doesn't convey. And you execute the clause like it will be next year's pick.
If that pick isn't top-55 then you execute the clause like next year or never.

So for us, we always knew if it's not top-4 then it's ours. Otherwise we wait for next year. It was always about the odds/chance/balls.

From my understanding, the Bulls getting 10th in the coin toss would’ve resulted in them having the same chance at getting a top 4 pick (20.5%) as if they got 8th.

This is a win for the Magic.

Amazing news!

Good stuff. You never know when picking one pick earlier or later can make all the difference. Ahem.

Or well, as Magic fans, I guess we do know.

Now here's hoping the basketball gods will continue to smile on us on lottery night.

I just hope we havent used all our luck in securing the 3rd worst odds and the 8th worst odds from CHI.

P.S. in this deep draft, no.one really stands out pick 6-10 so its kinda a wash of we pick 8-10 unless our GMs already have a specfic target in mind.

It's good news but we will all be on pins and needles until the results are announced on June 22.

20.2% chance of losing the pick via Chicago hitting the draft lottery.

34.5% chance of 8th pick
36.2% chance of 9th pick
8.5% chance of 10th pick
0.5% chance of 11th pick
Less than >0.0 of 12th pick

It is a combined 26.30% that the pick goes top-4.
At #8 is 34.47%
At #9 is 32.10%
At #10 is 6.75%
At #11 is 0.38%
And yes it is mathematically possible to be #12, at about 1/100,000 odds.

As there is a chance Moody slides to 8, but not to 9, this is really interesting. Otherwise I guess I project Scottie Barnes or Ziaire Williams. Personally I vote for neither, but that's just me. Kai Jones could allow the Magic to have two Texas Centers incapable of defending bruisers. What's not to like about that?

For completeness, odds for going top-4 collectively:
8 is 26.30%
9 is 20.27%
10 is 13.88%

In the end, the late season Chicago win resulted in - no consequence. Chicago was the 8th worst team for most of the last 3-weeks of the season, and now is at the 8th-lottery slot. I had been looking at that 26.30% for much of April as an expected outcome of losing the pick.

Glass half full: I would much, much rather the Magic draft 8 over 9. Either Moody slides or the Magic chooses between Barnes and Williams, rather than taking the left-over.

Tankathon updated their odds already. On my first pull, the Bulls pick went 10. (and the Magic pick 6).

Cunningham and Barnes would be a great outcome of this failed season. Those two pair nicely to each other and the current roster.

Cade and Jalen Johnson would be a nice haul....hopefully we actually use our second rounder as well

I wouldn't want Barnes unless we had a new coach.

Im kinda leaning into this thinking as well. Cade of course would be the #1 trophy but as to the 2nd pick we have ,looking at the position we are thin at AND (for me anyway) no clear cut player separating himself from the rest of the pack in the 6-12 range, why not Jalen right? ( This of course is contingent upon the fact that our FO talked to him and comes out knowing there isn't something wrong in his head to always run away when going gets tough)

2nd rounder.. I at first want one of the big pure shooting PF/C in the draft like Luka, PEtrusev, Huff , Hurt and etc.. but if we keep Wagner, then I can live with choosing maybe a PG for this

If we do it's probably a stash. I don't see us taking on 3 rookies on a team with 8-9 young guys already.

To be fair, Orlando played six rookies this year: Okeke, Anthony, Hampton, Mané, Cannady, and Franks.
