Re: OT: TV and Movies (With Spoilers)
My wife has been trying to get me to watch handmaid's for years. I always say I've heard it's quality but doesn't exactly look like a fun watch. Then I tell her I'll start it at some point... and hope she forgets the conversation.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

There is no scene in this movie that gets to the point without wasting dozens of lines, and many scenes that never get there. I have laughed out loud several times as conversations meandered farther and farther from the plot. Did this movie have an editor? Did anybody read the screenplay?
I couldn't believe how long it was. A dumb, repetitive zombie movie that went for just under two and a half hours. What a world.
I really wish I could disagree with any of what either of you said...

There is a tight, funny, 90 minute action flick in there begging to be released from a prison of room temperature small talk.

Tig Notaro was funny. I had no idea that she was working in front of a green screen the entire time.

There were some good performances for sure. And some bad ones. Essentially they shouldn't have made this movie without James Gunn or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

Having known they had to redo that role the way they did I thought it was distractingly obvious.
I'd have watched a sequel around the safe cracker and the dude who plays Ghost in Power.

At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Good show. This is the final season
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I don't think I'd watch anything else by these writers.
**** was too much, it should have been bank heist and fast zombies, that's it. You could keep the father daughter thing if it was totally rewritten. You can keep the nuclear bomb time restraint. Everything else including the zombie hierarchy was absolute garbage.

Re: OT: TV and Movies (With Spoilers)
Did anyone catch Counterpart when it aired on Starz? Both seasons are currently on Amazon. Pretty cool show starring JK Simmons and given the accolades I'm surprised it didn't get more attention. Kinda like a cross between Orphan Black and The Conformist.

I've never heard of this but I'll watch anything with JK Simmons.

Super premium show. High quality production with great world building. Slow burn that builds intensity and pays off the faithful viewer. I think someone on here put me on 40 pages back.

Thanks for the recommendation. Simmons is great, and I loved Orphan Black in the early days.
EDIT: Trailer gives me some Looper vibes.
