Just my opinion but Graham is 100% going somewhere where he can start and play big minutes like the Clippers or Bulls, no way is he coming back unless the market is so tepid we offer the most money

You may be 100% correct. But I'm not as convinced that Graham is a starting level point guard due for Terry Rozier money. Graham did achieve a higher level of cap hold due to the number of games he started (doubling his cap hold), but he has big holes in his midrange game and is pretty much fully developed as an older player. League evaluators see the same things we see.

If Graham does move on for a starting gig, I'll be happy for him. He's the kind of player I root for - paid his dues with 4 years in college and time in the G-league, and worked himself into a productive NBA player. He belongs in the league.

You know, I got to looking at the projected slate of unrestricted free agents for 2021 at Spotrac (https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/ufa/) and it's a big ol' stinking pile of meh. There's a few decent guys on there, but, man, it's an uninspiring list.

Oddly, the two youngest guys on the list are Frank Jackson and Harry Giles - both Dukies - at 23 years old. I'd sign 'em both. Brad Wanamaker leads the entire group with the least years of league experience, but he's 32. And, uh, Doug McDermott will be free to sign with anyone. The highest paid center on the list, nearly doubling the salary of the next highest paid center, is...Cody Zeller. Somehow, someway, Bismack Biyombo is still only 29, which I refuse to believe. Andre Drummond, who's close behind at 28, only cost the Lakers $800K. See? Just odd.

I see that Enes Kanter is on the list. Age 29. A pretty decent center, averaging 11 rebounds per game this season and shooting 64%, but not a great shot-blocker.

If we could get him for a decent deal, I'd be down. He's really really terrible on defense though...we'd essentially be going all out on offense. Maybe bring him in as part of a Center-by-committee (Mitch mentioned possibly getting multiple Cs).

I'd also throw Bobby Portis in as a consideration, similar to the Kanter mention. He's also bad on defense but is a strong rebounder, shooter, and can get some hustle baskets. Per 36 he's putting up 20 & 12 on 52% from the field and 47% from three. He'd have to opt out of his 3.8m player option

if we want that archetype on the team, then we should've attempted to play Vernon Carey this season or retain Willy Hernangomez at the min rather than paying Kanter 3-4 times as much.

If he will do a 2/15 or so deal, that’s fine and back him up with a shot blocker like Z Collins

Drummond starts at 20 mil. I'd walk away, but he checks a LOT of boxes. Hard to turn away from a three-phase answer, even if he thinks, on occasion, that he's a point guard.

Drummond is complete an utter garbage.

Zeller might be better than Drummond right now. Watch Drummond for LA, or the last year. He's awful.

Oh I can't remember my log information, I've had a couple of Real GM accounts over the year, sometimes it's just easier to make a new one!

Good to see some of the old guard still hanging around, yes you are all OLD!

Would not touch him at 20 a year. Under 10 max. If he can get someone else to pay him big bucks, good for him.

These guys almost always get more money than fans think they’ll get. Drummond and Holmes are going to cash the hell in. The other options are just so weak. Which one will we over pay is the question. Both have pros and cons. Either one will help fill a gaping hole.

If Kupchak insisted on drafting a center more nba ready this year, it should give an hint that the FO does not want to overpay in FA (at least thats how i understand his quote).
It might be a smokescreen though. Not having a lot of tradable assets is a major issue though. Guys like Okongwu, B. Clarke (while not being perfect, he could be a major transition big when buildling the team), Zubac should be trade targets as they are at worst rotation big and perfect fit on the pnr.

Anyway its hard to guess what will be done till the lottery has been done. If by miracle Hornets could draft in the top5, free agency would be obviously very different than picking in the 10th range.

Gary Trent, Jr., drafted #37 in 2018. Might be relevant to keeping the only reasonably consistent sources of backcourt shot creation / spacing off the Hornets bench.

Prior to the 2020-21 season, Trent reportedly turned down a four-year extension worth north of $53 million from the Portland Trail Blazers, a bet on himself to presumably earn a bigger payday this offseason.

The Raptors wouldn't have motioned to acquire the 22-year-old if they didn't see him as a part of a long-term plan but his restricted free agency makes the concept of negotiation a bit trickier. It's fair to assume that Trent, who is averaging 16.6 points per game during his time as a Raptor, will look to receive a figure in the neighborhood of $60 million given what he was offered earlier in the season

Me watching this game 3 between the Knicks Hawks, just from watching Noel go 6-6 from the line, puts him at the top of my list hahaha. He'd be a very good fit. Is he restricted or an unrestricted free agent?
