Re: The Amazingly Sucky Davis Bertans Thread
Disgraceful performance but... a player like Bertans really needs to get screens from his teammates, and... I didn't see any screens set for him. Really, the only good screener on the team is Lopez, and he's not that far out on the perimeter most of the time. Len is willing but sloppy. And guys like Beal and Rui just don't do it well when they actually try.

I read recently where Bertans and Gafford talk a lot about how Davis likes his screens set. Gafford is apparently often responsible for setting screens to help get Davis open.

The title of this thread seems unfair.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Well. He is just not a starter. His role should be to come off the bench when there is a mismatch and light it up. That’s it. We are using him incorrectly.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Davis Bertans Thread
I didn't expect him to play well every game this series. He's never been a consistent contributor. You just want him to have more good nights than bad and your okay with playing because teams respect his shooting ability and won't leave him which opens up the floor for others.
He was solid in the 1st game but he can't have too many more game 2 type performances.

I thought the contract they gave him was ridiculous. Still do. He's a one-dimensional gunner equivalent to a Mac-10...jams up and misses all the time.

While massively overpaid, Bertans would thrive on a team that swings the ball around giving him better looks, Bertans %'s are down because he is shooting contested/rushed 3-pointers it appears.

Etan Thomas all over again. Overpaid for seemingly doing one thing well despite being a mediocre player

The realgm wizboard has a long history of Amazingly Sucky threads. The key one being the Amazingly Sucky Juan Dixon thread, which apparently a family member told him about and he went berserk in a playoff game dropping 35 against the Ben Gordon Bulls. SInce then it is a thing that is done. Anyone who has a bad game or two gets an Amazingly Sucky shrine. I'm not really a fan of the trope, but hey.

Fair enough, & of course there have been plenty of "Amazingly Sucky..." threads.
Certainly the one devoted to Ted is well-deserved!

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Davis Bertans Thread
I disagree with all of the comments like that one. Bertans had the best on/off differential on the team by a mile. That isn’t some fluff advanced stat. We were a much better team when he was on the court. He posted a 62% TS.
It’s not his fault that he plays on a team in which there is absolutely no structure to the offense. It’s just two players taking turns ISOing. There is no semblance of an offense. He doesn’t really need to handle the ball to be an effective player. We just need an actual offense that moves the ball and runs sets to free up shooters. It’s not complicated at all.
Again, we outscored our opponents at a much higher rate with Bertans on the court, than any other wizard on the entire roster, by a lot. This is a fact.

Bertans needs to focus on one key thing in the off-season: conditioning and muscular mass. He was pushed around too much last season.
