...and Brooks inability to make adjustments and use every tool in his arsenal, is the one of the biggest reasons he should be brought back.

I expect Neto to start but Brooks won't stay with it if it doesn't work and someone else will start the 2nd half

What's the alternative?

I understand Brooks being too busy trying to win games down the stretch, but it feels like he missed an opportunity to figure out how to add more flexibility into the lineup by making a real attempt to try to get Bonga, Hutchinson, Matthews or Gill into the rotation.

I can understand Brooks not trusting the alternatives and just tearing everything apart now, but it's also his own fault.

Basically for the current rotation to work agains the Sixers Ish Smith and Neto have to ball out on offense to make up for the deficiencies on defense.

It's a shame because with Simmons on the floor I think there's an opportunity to try to match the Sixers size and physicality.

Inflexibility

That is why Brooks is not a better coach.

Returning to this game to mention, that really this was the one we could have & should have won.

We gave them 5 more shots on basket than we had. That in itself is just about giving away a game. Yet, we actually made 3 more shots than they did. We outscored them by 4 points from the field.

Unfortunately, in addition to giving them 5 more FGAs than we had, we also put them on the line 18 more times than we got there!!

All the rest of the commentary on the game is kind of irrelevant, unless it's a comment on something that led to Philly having all those many, many extra chances to score. Because, when you get to take 5 more FGAs than your opponent, & you get to take 18 more FTAs than your opponent, it's hard not to win.

Some of this is on the officiating (or else on the fouls that the official called), but most of it is on 1) steals & turnovers (they had 10 steals, we had 4; they had 11 TOs, we had 15) & 2) lack of offensive rebounding (we rebounded 18% of our own misses; they rebounded 26%).

This problem should also be viewed in light of the claim that PFs no longer need to rebound. In 36 minutes, Rui managed 5 boards, none of them on the offensive glass.

Sometimes, as we know, it is claimed that Russ "steals" Rui's rebounds -- i.e. that he gets boards which otherwise would go to Rui. Maybe, but not in this game -- Westbrook totaled 5 rebounds, 1 on offense, 4 on defense.

I'm not blaming this loss on Rui's lack of rebounding -- in fact, only Beal & Gafford rebounded well, & our total number of boards wasn't the problem; offensive rebounding was.

Too bad, however... this was a game we could have & should have won.

Agree that of the 2 games played so far, this is the game we should have won. I do, however, put more on the officiating than on the offensive boards. Those questionable calls by officials led to points from the line, and just as importantly, players having to sit on the bench. That matters. That said, offensive rebounding has been a problem through the season, and when playing a team with good interior D and the length to rebound, will be even more of a problem. We need to address our PF and SF positions in the off-season, as we are not getting average production from these positions. The coaching also needs to be addressed.
