Re: THJ
It's amazing how good a player can become when paired with a transcendent talent at PG. Happy for Tim. Dude's about to get paid.

Re: THJ
THJ was always a good offensive player. The problem with him is that you have to hide him on defense because he's not that great at guarding the perimeter. Couple that with the streaky nature of his shooting and you realize you are better with a 3 and D low shot volume player (like Bullock) than him. On the Mavs, they need him to put up shots so they can live with some of those shortcomings. There's nothing THJ is doing now that we did not see in NY.

Re: THJ
Next season, there will be not many cap space teams that can pay him more than the MLE. And I don't think Tim should be a target for rebuilding teams like OKC, Magic, Houston, and Spurs.
Tim should be forced to get a more reasonable deal. I think it's a return to home very possible.

I remember on draft night of 2013 I created the Official Knicks draft Hardaway Jr Thread; I was super excited and have always believed in that kid.

We traded him twice and he was salty both times lol. No way he's coming back. Not that I'd want to pay him big dollars again. I'd rather the Knicks re-sign both Burks and Bullock.

Re: THJ
It's the Luka Effect, nothing more, but I'm happy that THJ is thriving. Smaller role, better shot selection, better shot availability.
Dallas is so blah on paper, Luka really is that damn good, carrying this team the way he does.

I hope Dallas resigns THJ in the same way I hope Boston resigns Fournier.

Re: THJ
It's not Luka. These are his stats in the 23 games without Luka
20.3 PPG 4.0 RPG 2.9 APG
44% FG 40% 3PT 82% FT
It's the Carlisle effect. He makes mediocre guards look a 100x better. After Buzz's prophecy of Frank ending up there comes to fruition, watch him be better too. I don't know why. It's just something I realized after being fooled by the frolicking guy PJax traded for

Praising THJ, who underachieved on the Knicks but thrives elsewhere, and now they want him back, to underachieve here again.
They fail to realize that we don't have a playmaker like Luka who will get him open and hit him at his spots. Let's focus on getting a better PG to run the team first.

Re: THJ
Pretty much agree with what everyone is saying here. We asked him to play too big of a role and handle the ball too much. Funny enough he’d probably thrive here now playing off Randle, Rose, and RJ. I still don’t really mind the signing cuz it’s very similar to the deal we did with Randle. Certainly would look better playing for Thibs than he didn’t under clowns like Hornacek. Might as well make a slight overpay on a younger player that could grow into the sea than pay on old guy on the decline.

Re: THJ
I have to laugh when I read some of the post here. Some people are making Thj out to be more than he really is, he's a streaky shooter who's been in a groove lately. What's going to happen, is what always happens with him, he starts to cool off, but it won't stop him from acting like he's the second coming of Micheal Jordan, taking lots of bad shots and it will cost the Mavs a game. It could be tonight or the next game or two but mark my words it will happen.
What makes me really laugh is someone actually describing him as a two way player. Now that is ridiculous.
Bringing him back to New York would be one huge mistake. He'll get a team to put out some big numbers (perhaps the Mavs) which they will regret.

Re: THJ
Knicks traded a young talent plus two solid starters for two low first round picks worst trade ever.blackstar wrote:How many are ready to admit they were wrong about THJ?
The guy has turned into arguably the Mav's second best player and the best asset that went out in the KP trade. What was seen as a negative asset at the time has turned into gold for them and we should have gotten value back for him. I never was a detractor of Timmy and thought that $18 million wasn't a bad contract for him. He was still young, could shoot the lights out, was clutch and was drafted by us. Yeah he made some boneheaded plays here and there but imagine if he had been given a chance under Thibs? Thibs might have turned him into a legit two way player.
I think Timmy was a victim of the classic fan impatience we have here with young players. He was never given the patience that Frank was given.

THJr was just given too big of a role here.
He should be a #3 option on a solid, not contending, team. He is just that in Dallas, that's why he's looking better than in NY.
He actually would fit nicely, now, in NY. I'd be okay with him if the Knicks also went out and got a very high level PG, first.
Cut that out
