OT: Bonds #756 ball vote

Post#1 » by DigitalFool » Tue Sep 18, 2007 12:03 am

You've probably already heard that the ball was sold - the interesting thing is that the buyer, Marc Ecko, created a website for the fans to vote on what to do with the ball.

Send to Hall of Fame
Brand it with an asterisk and send to Hall of Fame
Send in outer space

I don't really think the seconds choice is really an option as I doubt the Hall of Fame would display the ball with an asterisk written on it.

I voted asterisk. Here is my reasoning. First of all if you send it into space, it will be forgetting easily. If you send it to the hall of fame, then you are supporting a sham. But if you brand it, and find a place to display it whether that be in the hall if they accept it or in someother location, it will always be remembered as a sham record. Thats how I feel anyway.

Greatest tainted record ever. No one cares what happens to the ball. Blow the damn thing up.

You are speaking for far too many people. I do care what happens to it, and I wanna see it go into the Hall

Actually I think YOU are speaking for far too many people. A vast majority don't give a crap about Bonds.

Option numero dos. That would be amazing. One of two things happens. One, Cooperstown puts a replacement ball behind the glass and fans know that Ecko stuck it to Bonds. Two, Cooperstown puts the ball behind the glass and everyone laughs their asses off at the asterisk.

Ted may look innocent but if he had an opposable thumb you can bet he'd be right in there setting up the dynamite.

IF you were to take all the stuff out off the hall of fame that was tainted nothing would be left. Put in the ball where it needs to be in the HOF. People from all era's cheated. In whatever way they could.

Ecko was on ESPN radio today - I'm pretty sure I heard him say that there is no protection on the website, eg. allowing IP's to only vote once. So, I'm sure people are going to create robots to flood selections. We'll see I guess...he won't be giving any daily results - his vote was B.

I doubt they would display it showing the asterisk on the front... he would have to burn more than one on it..

He's getting alot of advertising off this.. wonder if its worth it.

Return to Milwaukee Brewers
