Phx should've went after Norm. They could use another player with norms skillet.

He took wayyyy less money to sign in Milkwaukee. Turned down 15 million in NY. Id bet he's resigning in Milwaukee as he's fitting in well there and although they are spending a lot, they'll find a way to pay himtecumseh18 wrote:Federalies wrote:Good morning all, what’s the consensus on considering Bobby Portis as a relatively low cost option at C?
He has a $3.8 mil player option with the bucks but after posting 11.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, while shooting a ridiculous 47% on 3 pointers (yes, I had to double check that) and 74% from the line, all on less than 21 minutes per game, I’m assuming he’ll turn that option down. Bobby is 6’ 11” with a 7’1.5” wingspan and is now tipping the scale at 250 lbs. perhaps we can split the MLE with Kehm and have them battle it out for starters minutes? I believe he’s still mobile enough to play some 4 in a jumbo lineup! Thoughts?
Hah, Portis' eyes are so crazy you can't tell if that thumbnail is a real pic or a screen grab from NBA2021.
I've mentioned Portis a few times in this thread. As you say, the 3-pt shooting is crazy. I'd like to start him, park him behind the arc and tell him to empty the clip. Defence has usually been an issue with Portis, but he seems better now. Bucks don't have his Bird rights and are in the tax, so our non-taxpayer MLE should be enough.
Which raises the issue of how the hell we pay Birch? I'd like to bring him back as a bench C, but I don't think the BAE ($3.8 mill) will be enough. The only option would be to let Kyle walk and sign Portis - or Kelly O. or Theis - with cap space. That would allow us to slightly outbid other teams offering only the full MLE, and then sign Birch with the room exception of $4.7 mill (or cap space if that's not enough).

Yeah, it's tough not to watch some of these guards in the playoffs and think that Lowry at the 1 or Norm at the 2 would have taken them to another level. The Lakers might go out in first round and had the contracts, Horton-Tucker and the 22nd pick, not sure why they don't have Norm or Lowry on the team at the moment. They're not even playing Harrell, and he could certainly have been part of a 3 way deal with an expiring contract and a rookie contract guy Toronto likes coming in exchange, with a team that needs energy and frontcourt scoring getting him. Schroeder same deal for a team needing a 6th man scorer like Philly or the Knicks, who are about to go out because they can't score.
Where's the D?

Please explain to me how. Bucks are in the tax, and don't have Portis' Bird rights. Do you think Portis is going to accept 4.7 mill to stay when he can make double that - at least - somewhere else?
Actually, it was the Knicks who declined a 15.75 mill team option to bring back Portis.

Bucks are ~$30 million over the expected 2021-22 cap of, say, $115 mill. Their big 3 will make $105 million next season. So Bucks would have to unload EVERY other salary on their books to get under the cap enough to sign Portis for a 10 mill deal. Just losing B-Lo's 13 mill salary isn't going to get it down.
Alternatively, Bucks could try to get under the tax level to re-sign Portis to a non-taxpayer MLE this summer, but they have to stay under the tax level for the following season. That means they'd have to unload at least ~$20 of salary, not just B-Lo.

If anyone here is left on the Drummond bandwagon, just take note of how he not only lost the support of the fan bases on Detroi and Cleveland, Laker fans are also disenchanted.

Drummond is garbage. great counting stats but 0 leadership, 0 heart.

Re our argument at the 2012 draft party when Raps were on the clock, I stand by my position that Drummond would have been a good trade chip, if nothing else.
Even Kwame Brown had trade value at one point. Maybe Raps could have gotten Harden from OKC for Drummond.

With Ben Simmons struggling, I can see Philly sign and trade for Lowry to help with ball handling

Drummond on a rookie deal, definitely was a good trade chip. I remember some of those stories about a Drummond for harden.

LOL philly would ask for Pascal for Simmons not Kyle
Come on. To be honest it wouldn’t surprise me to see Pascal get shopped in the off-season. He seemed to have some locker room issues that bubbled to the surface which the team doesn’t take well. He’s also pretty inconsistent. His value should be high enough to get back a good package though.

I believe BC was still the GM of the Raptors and we still had Bargnani/Ed Davis lol. no way we take Drummond or trade for Harden considering we have Derozan.

harden was traded the same offseason drummond was drafted
how could there have been Drummond for harden rumors, unless we are talking about draft pick that became drummond.
as for raptors/harden, the thunder wanted jonas, who was drafted 5th overall a year ago but was stashed overseas, 8th pick that year (that became ross) and jose calderon

Drummond+ for Harden wouldn't have been beyond the realm of possibility. OKC took Steve Adams the following draft, so Presti at that time liked a big, uh, big.
The chatter I specifically do remember was more about JV for Harden, who was finally coming over that summer from Lithuania. If we had drafted Drummond, then JV would have been available for trade.
Yes, BC was GM. Too bad we didn't have a Jayson Tatum. We could have traded him for a Markelle Fultz.

ahhh yes, i knew I remembered something along the lines, but I was mixing up draft years. I thought Val and Dummond came in the same draft, but it was Ross who we skipped on drummond for.
Drummond + Jose + future pick would've been better than what they got for Harden in Kmart + pick. Val + 8 + Jose did seem like a lot at the time, looking back we should've jumped on that. I was very very very high on Val tho and so was BC.
