Conley is rolling tonight. Almost like he's intimately familiar with our court or something...

Ok, we need to counter here whatever adjustment they make. Move the ball around and then put the ball in Ja's hands late.

Why did we give up our challenge so early on?

That was a fifth straight PO win of this young team I am truly proud of. Our future is so bright.

Proud of this team too but I'm not happy just to be here, this team can beat them.
Along with getting DM back Jazz have also shot the ball extremely well but Memphis have still made a game of it with several players still struggling with their games. Where in this loss, Jazz players, DM specifically who was having an off game, had to resort to throwing himself on the floor on several absolute 3pt bricks to get to the line where Jazz were +13. in a 10pt loss. Shocked to see Conley also flopping on the Melton screen when Memphis had their late run which helped kill/shift momentum but I also know why he did it.
Flops are not just selling contact, it's also an indication that the players committing them, know they have that favor. An extension of that manipulation/favor the refs give, they could have also chose to ignore the slight contact on a shot that was never going in most of the night, they bailed DM out of having a bad game. (2-10) from 3 but (9-11) FT's. If not for the 3pt flops he would have had a 20pts on 20 shots type game. Sad part is he wasn't the only Jazz flopping hoping to be bailed out
Brooks curling into a ball trying to avoid contact only to see DM shooting 3 on the FT line on an absolute bricked attempt was vomit inducing. That's not basketball, that's ref ball.
Despite getting DM back & shooting as well as they have, The #1 seed has been pushed by Memphis to where they need to manipulate the officials to win.
Utah floppers lead the series 2-1.

Re: Playoff Thread: Grizz vs Jazz (Game Three)
With DM back, Brooks is spread too thin on the perimeter. Ja & Jonas killed the team defensively this game. DM was contained other than his gifted shots, Conley went off.
3J wasn't having a good game offensively but he should have closed the game defensively.
What's sad after 2 plus performances for Jonas.. he was allowed to play 35mins in this loss, because, he wasn't playing well. Jenkins sub to put in Jonas & Ja turned the game late 4th into a 14-2 run after the 3J led unit took a brief lead.
Jenkins has to watch that matchup, Jazz are the Cavs, with post defense. A pnr PG like Conley with 4 shooters & a defender to face up Jonas is not a good matchup.
Game 1, Brooks was able to lock just Conley making Jonas effective on the Jazz big men.

Even without 3J's offense clicking, his defensive impact 4th Q showed & bought Memphis a brief lead from down 11.
3J, you are Memphis key to this series.

It's encouraging that He's played better by the game.. If he figures it out & gets comfortable Memphis have more than a fighting chance to win this series. There's 2 sure games left for him to decide to leave a mark on it

All we need from him at this point is to stay on the court fouls-wise and shoot 3pts at >40%. That’s really doable.

Re: Playoff Thread: Grizz vs Jazz (Game Three)
Sum up how this series is being called over the last 3 games.
Gobert is allowed to play overly physical in the post which is Memphis strength as a team, where he can get away with a clear elbow in the post to the face of a Memphis post player, gifted non calls to exceed the 6 fouls per game because he's the backbone of the Jazz D. He's also allowed to set moving screens (called for 1 lol) that Memphis perimeter defenders have to fight over against a great 3pt shooting team which aids their open looks, Jazz strength as a team. Memphis best perimeter defender Brooks in turn, in trying to fight through those moving screens picks up the softest of calls on contact initiated by the shooter who's struggling all game while putting up an absolute brick of an attempt. lol

While Melton is called for a moving screen on a clear Conley flop with Memphis making their 4th Q run. A call that spoiled momentum.
Funny how that works when & how they choose to call a moving screen.. must be human error & I must be a sore loser conspiracy theorist for saying it
Maybe Memphis players instead of fighting through Goberts moving screens only to pick up cheap defensive fouls with a Jazz shooter jumping into them on an absolute brick, they play the Jazz's game & throw themselves down all over the court hoping for the refs to bail them out.. or maybe just maybe, the refs know why they are calling & letting go what constitutes being a moving screen.

Re: Playoff Thread: Grizz vs Jazz (Game Three)
lol just saw this on another Memphis forum
NBA Ref Stats
"On Saturday, Josh Tiven became the 2nd official in the last six years to call at least 10 fouls on one team while not calling a single foul against the other."
He called 3 of the Jazz 3pt bricks as fouls, up to 14 of their 27 total FT's. including Jenkins tech in a 10pt loss
Anyone want to guess how a coach that doesn't even use coaches challenges get a tech from this POS.
Anyone ever see a ref fined or fired ?
Me neither.
