I actually think we could use whatever exception we have for free agency on DeRozan. He's 31, made $175 million, and wants to win. Especially after he left and the Raptors won. Good friends with Steph.

Will he sign for under $6M? Because that's what they have, the taxpayer MLE.

Stranger things have happened. Like KD joining this team. Obviously it all depends on his options and his desires.

he will sign if we get a big name player first. He wont be the first to jump ship for sure

DeMar is actually fairly realistic. I'm sure the Spurs will work with him to get him to a preferable destination and he would likely start with us (at least until Klay is fully back). Pick and the TPE? Probably not realistic, but hey we can dream.

lol at he will sign if we get a big name player first. DeMar IS the big name player. Why would he need KD to sign before he joins? He's still producing at a high level (counting stats wise) and I doubt he's sitting there saying 'man if only there was a way to cut down my shots a game by two thirds...' I'd imagine the bigger pre-req to him going anywhere would be keeping his shot total (15) more or less the same. He's not signing anywhere to be Barbosa, he's hoping to be Tobias Harris. That doesn't happen if he's tied as the fourth option with Andrew Wiggins.

I see DeRozan more as a 3 than a 2 (particularly given his aversion to shooting 3's), and more of a complement to Steph and Klay than as a guy who would be satisfied being a third wing after Klay and Wiggins (once Klay is healthy).

In other words...... I could see him as a guy who might be interested signing for the taxpayer MLE if Wiggins isn't in his way, because he's been traded. If the Warriors have discussed with DeRozan the possibility of coming into that salary slot (as the starting SF), that might make them more likely to pull the trigger on a deal such as Wiggins/Wiseman/draft pick(s) for Siakam, or something similar.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Interesting opinion but I don't think we have the finances to bring in Kawaii or Ibaka, the only other FA "big names" I see.

DeMar is a free agent and I don't think we can bring him in via S&T. Unless we S&T Oubre for a TPE and then use that to bring in a DeRozan via S&T. Not sure that works though, pretty sure we don't have a lot of flexibility.

Yeah I know he's a UFA but I'm not sure he'd take a Mid level to play for a maybe championship contender unless Curry is a heck of a sweet talker; which was why I said maybe an Oubre S&T.

But that's also me not knowing the cap situation other than I know its bad.

So basically because they're so far over that there would be no way they could do a S&T w/ Oubre as that leaves them still over the Tax threshold correct? That would also mean the only way they could manage a S&T is if Wiggins is the other party going since he has a pretty large salary as well I take it? And I don't see that as a viable option either since At least Wiggins can make a 3

I would be going after:

Nic Batum
Reggie Bullock
Kelly Olynyk
Serge Ibaka
Andre Iguodala
Doug McDermott

Batum would be fantastic, Ibaka too but he has a po. Iggy for min is a good option.

Agreed. Some other guys I forgot about are Snell as well as McConnell.

DeRozan would be perfect. He's basically Wiggins with better playmaking all of the sudden

He's also a horrible 3-point shooter so it would be interesting to see how Kerr would use him if we ever got him on this team.

Iguodala should come to coach not to play.

Olynyk would be perfect. Batum I like a lot too.

TJ McConnell would be good too.

At least he KNOWS he's not a 3 pt shooter so he's not jacking them up all the time.

Kerr is fine with the mid-range game. He makes that middle area need to be defended so in the motion offense he could create more good shot opportunities.

That said, his defense is below average and that would be a massive pay cut.

If he joins the team I will cheer him.

But then you need to let DeRozan handle the ball. Why would you do this over a Green&Curry combo? Or even if you think that DeRozan&Curry would be fine together (could work!), what do you do with Green?

It is the same story with Butler...

Warriors just have no use for another high-USG non-shooting player with big ego and salary.
