Why would a team trade a draft pick for an unrestricted free agent they can just sign outright?
That is a good question. Could be wrong (Probably am), but it's dependent on Oubre's asking -- Which will be too much for Warriors' liking. A sign-and-trade will be difficult as it'll further push Warriors beyond the Salary Cap and into Luxury Tax (Possibly repeat tax offender since they were over by $80 mil last season for using the TPE on Oubre?) when asking for a trade for a draft pick and a player near Oubre's new contract.
Realistically, we'll just lose out on getting any asset in return for Oubre (aka let him walk for nothing) and see it as a learning experience.
I would like to find a way to turn Oubre into Olynyk. No idea if the Rockets would be interested in helping the Warriors though.
