Please let Moody slide to 8 (or 9).

Im curious.. why him? I think he will slip into the 9th range.

He is 6'6.. tall for a SG, a little for a SF.
He has catch and shoot abilities like Kispert but no quick first step in attacking like Bouknight or Keon.
Sure he has a 7ft wingspan for defense.
As i said before he reminds me of Harden because he drives using bully ball. He bulldozes down the opposing guards which are shorter and weaker than him. I dunno if he can do that in the NBA.

As of right now he is a safe choice but I wanna swing for the fences.

Why are we even talking about Garuba? I mean.. are we really still looking at raw, developig, ultra-atheltic, wingspan that can tie shoes without bending down, but non scoring non shooting bigs?

We do not need scorers. We do not need shooters. We need good players. You can be a good shooter and scorer while being a terrible offensive player at the same time. Who wins a shooting contest between Fournier and Doncic? Who is the better offensive player? One has only ever been a part of terrible offenses, while the other led the most efficient offense in the history of the NBA last year.

All that is required to be a scorer is to take a lot of shots. Allonzo Trier can shoot. Allonzo Trier can score. Allonzo Trier can't find a job in the NBA. Many players that fire up a lot of shots do more harm than good to their team's offense. Cole Anthony is a scorer, but he was a dreadful offensive player last year.

Garuba isn't raw. He is exceedingly accomplished for his age. He has won numerous youth accolades and averaged far more impressive stat lines along the way. He played the second-most minutes for his team in their domestic league. They finished 34-2 in the ACB, which is the best domestic league outside of the NBA. He played the fifth-most minutes for his team in the EuroLeague. They lost 3-2 in the quarterfinals against the eventual champions: Efes. Big European clubs don't play players for the sake of development. Garuba will continue to develop, but he is ready for the NBA right now.

We are discussing Garuba because there is clearly value there. I don't think anyone is advocating for him to be taken with our lottery picks, though I really wouldn't have a problem with it. It is obscene to me that he is being mocked outside of the lottery.

I disagree. We need a scorer after watching our team the last couple of years. Ok maybe I got the wording wrong, we need a scorer or the correct word maybe an offensive threat that demands constant coverage by the opposing team. Someone who just won't be left alone like what other teams do with Fultz, JI , AG when they are in the perimeter. TO be exact we need someone who can be the 1st or even 2nd option in the offense the likes of Lavine , CJ , Beal , Murray not 3rd options like Evan , Tobias , Joe Harris, Duncan, etc

Ok thats not fair, if green is gone, id be fine with Mobley or suggs, but i really want us to add Green at any cost, hes the franchise changing player weve been waiting for if we dont get #1

Theres so many better players than him that should be available.
If we are going on pure upside, theres a ton of guys im taking over him, like Jalen Johnson, moody, barnes, Keon, hell even Mann or juzang are better options
If we are going on "instant impact" guys, im still going with someone like moody

Theres just so little upside to Kisperts game. I get it that hes a great shooter, but thats really it. We arent a great shooter away from being a contender, we need difference makers all around

Agree with you in regards to Kispert. Someone said he has the impact of a Joe Harris and DUncan Robinson. We saw how dangerous Joe is when surrounded by Alpha scorers but we also saw how it failed spectacularly in MIA this year when their alpha scorers turned out to be frauds.

How much more when our team doesn't even have a designated go-to-scorer ( Cole's chucking non-withstanding) much less an alpha one?

Birch is a "good player". Vuc is a "good player". we need better than "good player"

I like Wagner, but he just looks like a different archetype than Moody. Moody is a much better/more advanced shooter and likely a better scorer. Wagner looks more like a Swiss Army knife guy that needs to rework his shot

Hmm.. alright. LOL Like I said, I respect every Magic fan's opinion on their picks because ultimately it's the same as all of ours, how to improve the team. As for the reason "potential", I get that. He is supposedly one of the youngest players in this draft and while others have showed more skills and talent than him, I know its hard to measure potential.

Also, with the POs we are seeing now, even if he is a legit 6'6 with the wingspan, he is going to get abused by the better teams SF. I think he needs to be a SG. The SF nowadays needs to be at least 6'7 barefoot to deal with the SFs of the present like LBJ , KD , Kawhi , PG , Butler and the future like Simmons, MPJ , Ingram.

I havent seen much of Mann, but from what ive seen i like him alot
As for Juzang, im completely sold on him and would take him over alot of the overrated players that people mention on here and definitely over some of these guys like Garuba.

I think that Moody will play mostly at SG and in smallball lineups some minutes at SF.

Imo Franz has good length and good defense for SF.

Trying to make a case for guy like Garuba using words like " acomplished in Europe" just shows miles people are willing to take to hide own thoughts from what they really think.
IF you are making case for Garuba as lottery pick it just means 1 thing: draft flattens out after 4 players and drafting outside top 5 is complete disaster.

Garuba isn't "acomplished" at all. He is not any more acomplished than Hezonja, Bender, Killian Hayes, Avdija or Sekou Doumbouya were in Europe. Guy born in Madrid plays basketball for team where he started his basketball first steps, went through ranks of youth teams and now he is in rotation for Real Madrid, much like all guys above mentioned were for their matical teams.
Literally every Europe team in soccer & basketball does that. They promote youth players from their develomental & youth teams and place them in rotation.

"He played 16 mpg on Real, Real was contender". Hezonja played 16 min on Barcelona that went 21-7 and that was runner up in Spanish league & played final 8 in Euroleague.

But Garuba as prospect simply isn't upside pick nor BPA nor fits the need.

I don't hate on this guy nor i care about him, i saw him play enough time to be sure Tristan Thompson & Biyombo are his floor & ceiling. And sure, he isn't "raw" , he simply isn't that talented. He has no post game, no jumpshot, esencially in nba it's impossible for him to be anything but rolling - not so big- big. In body of PF playing C. Might as well trade 2 second round picks and get Robert Williams. Nobody will see difference.

If we are talking about accomplished and polished youth stars from Europe, his teammate Santi Aldama simply achived more in less time.

I'm sure Garuba will be nice addition for some piss poor bench that will spark some energy like Biyombo did to Raptors. But that guy will never lead you anywhere but into deeper lottery. And Magic already have 2 limited centers. Adding 3rd bench center is no- go in my books.


And all this still doesn't change fact that Magic apsolutley need go to scorer.
