GAry wants 15+ million dollars. Portland wants to keep Powell, who apparently wants the same. Gary at this stage is not worth that as he's inconsistent and as much as he's a dawg, he's not good on defense. Portland needs to win now. We have 70 million or so tied up in our two guards. Putting in 15 million to Gary isn't the move and isn't about being cheap, I don't believe.
powell as a longer term veteran is eligible for far more as you know. The gary costs more argument is moot imo as the cap on what he can be offered is much lower and if teams go spend crazy powell could just as easily get a huge deal
It's not a moot point. Gary wanted fifteen million and can get that, plus he's a restricted free agent this summer so we would be forced to make a decision within a smaller time frame potentially.
The point you were making is Gary was traded because Jody Allen is cheap. But if Jody Allen is willing to pay Powell what Gary Trent wanted, that isn't about money. It's about who's worth the money.
we will see if we re sign powell then we can talk
