@cgf

I think he’s significantly better than BJ Boston when it comes to self creation. His handle so smooth.

both need to seriously hit the weight room

I'm torn on them. I'd definitely take the chance on both being 5-star recruits w/ shot creation skills since we've got 2 picks and they're late-ish. and COVID probably made things really tough on freshman, so imma be lenient

if Sharife Cooper were a couple inches taller I'd be able to overlook the poor 3PT shooting

he can get anywhere he wants on the floor. problem is, he's too small to finish consistently inside and he won't be able to defend many

The thing with BJ Boston is that I don’t see the shot creation skills with him like I do with Ziarie. For me personally, if the Knicks wanted to take a long term approach I would take Ziarie over BJ with no hesitation. My take could be absolutely off though.

For the umpteenth time, he shot 35% from three as a freshman and 34% this season before his elbow injury which required surgery. Shot selection was also an issue, taking bailout threes because UConn's offense was terrible. I'm not worried about his 3PT shot.

I saw he had some nice step-backs and pull-ups this past season, he just didn't knock down the shot that often; seemed he was better off the catch. IMO tho he's got the better handle than Ziaire and he's more willing to attack/get to the rim. Ziaire has the advantage in passing and defense

I don’t know. I don’t really see much creation in his highlights in college. Most of his points came from spot up 3’s. He’s a lot like Knox in my opinion. Ziarie created a lot of shots off the dribble on the other hand.

They traded up for him?

no, but why does it matter? it's about whether or not you believe in the talent

So with Towns #1 overall and Edwards #1 overall and Russell #2 overall (plus Culver #6 overall and Rubio #5 overall) = 23-49-- and you want us to follow Minnesota's lead?

Zaire was one of my favorite before he went down with injury.
His shot is just smooth.. reminded me of Glen Rice.
I hope he falls to 19th pick.

that's not the point at all. the point was that context matters when looking at a players #'s. Bouknight had a low 3P% b/c the quality of shot he took rather than being a bad shooter

but addressing what you said Minnesota's bench sucks but they have better young talent than we do. and they have a chance to add to it if they land a top 3 pick

Are the Knicks a better team? Obviously, but Minnesota is bad in part due to their terrible bench/bad coaching/being in the West; they were somewhat respectable after Finch took over

I hear that but can’t escape the fact that Elfrid Payton started all year for us and didn’t involve anybody by passing on his drives, couldn’t shoot and hardly played any defense. Would Cooper be an upgrade to this? Absolutely! He can get to basket and set up teammates for passes. Imagine him driving with Mitch or Obi as lob threats, or RJ for a kick out spot up 3? Heck, even Knox would benefit from being set up. It’s almost too perfect, which is why I have my doubts we draft him.

I think he would be a major upgrade to Payton and improve the overall offense. He’s a gifted passer and floor general.

Plus Cooper doesn’t even have to be the starter. But he can add a completely different dynamic to our offense which is isolation heavy. I would love a two headed monster with him and Quickley as the PG’s. IQ is the shooter, Sharife is the set up guy.

Ziare worst case scenario is 6”8 3D wing

Boston jr worst case scenario is probably poor mans Kelly oubre

I like this cause potentially we would move RJ to SG and with his promise to work on his handle this summer it could create asadvantage for him to be a SG. If Ziare can develop as a D&3 with drive potential he could be really useful for the Knicks.

He just has to get stronger.

he's definitely very skilled. great handle and passer. can get pretty much anywhere he wants on the court.....but man I wish he just had a bit of a growth spurt. he's listed at 6'1 but that is extremely generous. I've seen other listings have him a 5'10.5

I have no skin in the argument but if you're going to paint an accurate picture maybe take more than 1 team. Most of the playoff teams were drafted. Utah drafted Mitchell and Gobert. Suns drafted Booker and Ayton. Nuggets drafted Jokic and Murray. Blazers drafted Lillard and McCollum. Grizzlies drafted Ja. Mavs drafted Luka. 76ers drafted Embiid and Simmons. Bucks drafted Giannis. Hawks drafted Trae and Collins. Heat drafted Bam and Herro. Celtics drafted Tatum and Brown. Wizards drafted Beal.

I think he can have an impact because of his skill set. True floor general. Ty Lawson had a stretch where he was explosive and highly productive. He couldn’t shoot as well. The injuries and alcohol got the best of him. Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas had great careers being undersized. I think this kid has potential and could definitely be rotational on many teams, especially ours. He would easily be our best natural PG.

It's about Who is doing the drafting, not did they move up to top5 picks.
