Who we looking at as a replacement?

No clue, but it’s not going to be Zarren I’d guess.

Why not? He's always touted as one of the future GMs to look out for. I'm not sold on it though, he seems like he's just a numbers guy.

Give me Masai or give me nothing.

No GM is going to come in and trade Tatum. That would be insanity.
Kemba, JB, Smart and Steven's seats just got very warm.

I was done with Ainge after the rumors circulated the last couple years that teams dont mess with him anymore because they think hes a snake. Losing advantage or workability with other teams as a GM compromises the whole team.

And picking Olynyk over Giannis

Just me guessing, but I’d bet they want a fresh voice.

The guy I think would be a great Gm is Lebron James. Despite being an active player, he has a long history of working as a GM, starting with his Miami Heat days. He has strong ties to Klutch which reps many top players.
Lebron also has ties to Boston, being a part-owner of the Red Sox.

If Ainge and Wyc ruffled the feathers of our team through their public criticisms, as Weiss reported, then we absolutely need a new, outside voice that carries significant weight.

I don’t think he was told to go per say- I bet wyc and Danny had different views of what should happen going forward and probably on some moves in season and that happens with disappointment.

Danny probably realizes there’s a disconnect and is probably pro actively deciding to step down or leave and wyc is ok with it. Just kind of a it’s time to move on for both parties time of thing. Granted, nothing has happened at all yet and still may not but if he does step down and get another job I’d bet and hope Austin ainge goes with him which means we could get a clean slate.

I’d be pretty disappointed at this point if zarren gets the job and that’s not a knock on him

That's my guess too. Looks like Ainge strained his relationship with the players with those comments he made after the Fournier trade. Frankly, I thought his statements then weren't insulting at all, it was just your regular "our team isn't performing well" crap that execs and coaches give to the media. Didn't know it affected the team that much, if we're to believe the Weiss report...

I just applied for the job. Here’s Wyc’s email address if you want to throw your name in the hat:

Wyc@causewaymp.com

Here’s a small snippet of my credentials:

- frequent contributor on RealGM message boards since 2003, with over 20K posts
- successfully developed dynasties for the Boston Celtics in MyNBA simulation game mode on NBA 2K since NBA 2K7

I’ll let you guys know if I get a call back. I’m pretty happy where I’m at, but am willing to relocate to Boston if need be. Can anyone tell me how y’all treat Filipinos down there?

I hope Austin Ainge goes with him. Maybe we'll finally stop drafting undersized forwards and combo guards

Honestly I'm ready to move on. He made some good trades but I think a major issue why this team is where it is is because he couldn't do anything with all those draft picks.

On top of that while he did lore some big free agents here, they ended up being a disaster like Walker or they just flat out couldn't leave quick enough like Horford and Hayward. Then there was the whole Irving debacle.

They definitely need a change. I have to assume if Danny's gone then Steven's probably isn't far behind

It is time but at the same time....be careful what you wish for. The C's have to take the risk though.

I think he's become a bit overrated. He basically lucked out being able to swap an overpaid DeRozan for Kawhi because Pop's over the hill. He's still top 3 though, so I couldn't be mad at it. Presti is another guy I'd look into.

I dunno about that one. If Danny was half as good as Masai in the late 1st round/2nd round, our team would be a whole lot better.

I wasn’t convinced that Masai would want to come to Boston, but I just checked out his wiki page. He went to college in North Dakota and Montana, which are infinitely way more racist than Boston. I’m sure he’d listen to a pitch from Wyc.

With that being said, I still think it’s Zarren’s job to lose. There is also a possibility that Zarren is content being 2nd in command because there is no pressure whatsoever.

Will be an interesting summer. Draft is only a few months away, so we need to make moves quickly.

If Danny was half as good at his job, we would have a legit g-league farm system.

Whatever we have right now is **** pathetic. It's a glorified babysitter.

When ainge said the team wasn’t a contender he was just being honest and it was true. I’m all for a new pair of eyes in the front office but man these players are even more sensitive than I imagined.

That's wild.

Speculation it's because of his comments regarding race issues in boston.

Also possible players were not happy with his constant public criticism of them.

What were DA's comments about race in Boston? I missed that

Also I would be so happy if this is true. I've never liked DA and have HATED him since the IT trade, which I think is one the all time sleaziest moves in pro sports history and exposes the irrational fandom of most of this board, where the prevailing argument is DA had to seize the opportunity to trade to for Kyrie but somehow DA was also right to pass on most of the other other stars that came were traded in recent years.

Not sure why people think Stevens will be gone. Though, I think a key detail would be, is there off set money if he takes a college job? Celtics ownership just extended him. That's a lot of money to pay for like 5-6 years.
