I don’t think you need to really fight with people on trades though lol, just come to an agreement that both sides find fair. Brad seems like the type who would be good in that situation, very robotic.

Plus he is infinitely more respected within nba circles than Danny is, and I think LBF will say the same.

That’s fine. Anyone can talk themselves into it- the bottom line is the Celtics had a chance to completely clean house and they just promoted guys. That’s a big issue. Promoted a guy with zero experience as a gm or president of operations. With potentially the next 2 years defining our next 6 that’s not what I want.

If it helps, Brad is going to be more of a figurehead.

And zarren promoted? just confirms what reload lbf and other have said of this being a fraternity. I’ll wait for the shoe to drop but if/when it doesn’t this is a Dallas cowboys move. I’m familiar with their **** ups trust me

Danny Ainge did a tremendous job as GM of the Celtics. It was just time for a new voice. If Ainge wants another GM job there will be 10-12 teams interested.

Masai as President of operations , and Billups as Coach. I am saying that as a neutral observer.

We have several coaching candidates from this forum alone. I know, I've read all the coaching criticisms and adjustments in the GTs.

I actually love the move depending on who the coach is. It's probably easier to find a players coach than a great basketball mind to be your GM.

Shame Thibs isn't available.

I don’t know, Ainge was apparently forced out. He was the biggest problem with the entire dynamic of their FO.

But it’s one of those things where we just have to see what happens.

Yeah we need a guy who will scream at potential trade partners because that's how you get a deal done.

I’d expect Sam casell Chauncey and possible center Kidd to be linked in some form. Don’t think they’ll hire Kidd and please don’t

Wyc took the keys to the trading car away from Danny after the Perk deal--and it showed.

Let alone another coach as good as Stevens.

I mourn this loss and never saw this coming.

I only see Ainge leaving if the owners decided they don't want to pay they tax and they want something like a Kemba + 4 picks to cap space kind of deal which in a year will lead to Brown and Tatum traded for lottery picks and full tank period.

Not a fun time as a fan, but a cost controlled time for the owners who can sit back and collect sneaking into the 10th seed check playoffs money and watch their assets grow in value until they sell for a huge profit.

Yep. Lot of Celtics fans won’t know what they had til it’s gone.

I have been very critical of Ainge at various stages but he had some tremendous wins for the team over the years. To be ultra successful you need luck and from 2009 onwards there wasn’t a great deal of it.

Stevens in particular is a great coach and people on this board in particular are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to their criticism of him. Does he have flaws? Yes. Every coach does. This board overrates the majority of coaches. It is very hard to find good NBA coaches.

Sure Brad’s teams have seemingly had some chemistry issues and that’s probably been the main problem (other than injuries) but as a basketball mind he’s great. Done plenty as a coach with teams missing key pieces or lacking the depth or talent needed to win titles. Speak to anyone in the league and they will rave about him. Too many fans on here just expecting far too much of teams that have been too flawed to achieve significant success. I guess that’s probably a reason they’re moving on from Ainge. He simply has allowed Tatum, Hayward, Brown, Horford and Kyrie with a good bench to melt away into a team of nobodies plus Tatum, Brown and Kemba.
