Losing him in that game was unexpected, it took everyone by surprise....(well sort of), but it threw off the game plan and we were forced to adjust in game. Doc will have a different approach tonight and it should work. Look for us to get up and down the floor quickly, look for Ben to really dictate the pace and get guys involved. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Green and Curry have big games. Hopefully we hear more on Embiid by this afternoon.

Hopefully Mike Scott was just a panic move. I really don't get what they accomplish by having him out there instead of a guard. Not a rebounder or a rim protector. And it's not like Washington has anyone you need to worry about in the post in the starting lineup (and the Robin Lopez skyhook is clearly unstoppable no matter who is on him...)
It's absolutely bad. Anyone saying otherwise is in denial.Embiid-MVP wrote:https://www.audacy.com/94wip/sports/76-ers/sixers-executive-confirms-joel-embiid-doubtful-for-game-5
Not sure anyone posted this but man the more secretive they are the worse I feel about this. Maybe I'm just panicking but this sounds like it was quoted from Doug Pederson when wentz went down at first. I know it wasn't the playoffs yet but very similar comments

I'm going to try to connect the dots (that aren't there) to figure out what is going on.Embiid-MVP wrote:https://www.audacy.com/94wip/sports/76-ers/sixers-executive-confirms-joel-embiid-doubtful-for-game-5

I'm guessing (based on Woj and couple other reports) that it is not too serious and will return for the playoffs.
But since they aren't announcing anything, there also has to be some sort of indecision.
My guess is whatever it is, the doctor originally said to rest it for a while (maybe a couple weeks) to be safe, but Embiid probably wants to play and feels relatively look good. Maybe the doctor came back and said give it another day or two, we'll see how you're doing and make a decision.
Otherwise, I can't figure out why they would be secretive if they had all the information either way especially after the vague positive reports.

They are not sitting Embiid, because they said, hey, we can sell more tickets lol.

What do you propose instead of Scott starting? A guard isn't gonna cut it. Dwight starting? Then who's the backup then?
BBall Paul Id be down for a test run to start the game over Scott but even then it's probably similar results.
Ben playing the 5 might get him into foul trouble quickly again even though this is what I'd love to see out of our options but he'd have to watch the fouls
Haha could you imagine the scene where Sott O'Neil comes down to the locker room and addresses the team- "You know, Embiid is doing fine, but imagine the extra money to be made from another home game. We've made the executive decision to sit him". You disregarded the other reason and just focused on this one?
I even constructed it with a “wouldnt hurt” phrase was to imply that its nowhere near the primary reason and is more of an indirect positive benefit.
To add, it also wouldnt hurt that both Tobi and Ben can learn how to step up in the playoffs against a fringe playoff team.
