The Celtics have versatility and youth in Tatum and Brown. Its been pointed out they could pretty much tear this down to just those two and build up from there.

They could always stand pat and wait two years for Kemba to come off the books. Maybe that is what Ainge does. I prefer a more aggressive and fun approach. Trying to land a potential superstar ( Wiseman ) to pair with them.

I already proposed something similar, but I did not like it very much ..
Trade 1
Kemba / Boston21 / Nesmith to Thunder

Horford / K. Williams to Boston

BOSTON did not want to pay Al, but he is close to expiring, he provides interior defense, and offensively the fit is perfect. he does not take shots at his stars, good passer, he knows the house ... Williams is a player of rotation, solid and cheap

THUNDER.. does it again, rolls 1 first and a rookie picked at 14 from Horford .. They probably make Kemba work, and change it .. Kemba + SGA is interesting ..

Trade 2
Thompson to Timberwolves

Rubio to Boston (TpeHayward)

With the savings obtained, sign DDR and bring Fournier back with the bird rights.

Smarth / Rubio
Brown / Pritarch
DDR / Fournier
Tatum / K. Williams
Horford / Williams
1+1=11

Whelp, the first big move just dropped. Will be interesting to see how Stevens does, though I'm a bit skeptical.

Re: Roster...

One thing has been clear this season: at least three stars are required to win. All of the two star teams spent their season talking about what they needed to add. The Clips needed an initiator, the Lakers needed a ball handler, the Bucks needed to add Jrue, the Nets "needed" to add Harden, etc., etc.

So, BOS has two stars. They need to do whatever it takes to add a third, and then try to build on the edges. That's the only next big move to make. Otherwise, they're destined to be a perennial ECF contender, but not a real Finals contender.

If you want Wiseman you cannot be offering GSW two back up PGs, one of which is a worse fit than Wiggins and the other leaving in a year because Walker’s albatross of a contract.

If Boston wants a potential superstar they will need to actually send out assets in return. Whoever the player is.

Unfortunately, they're "capped" from a cap perspective and they lack the draft assets they had in previous years, so it's going to be hard to get a 3rd star on board. And they've got a decision to make on whether or not retain Evan Fournier.

Nobody is paying superstar prices for Wiseman right now so you have nothing to worry about.

Not asking for superstar prices, just actual assets. 1 year of Marcus Smart and taking on Walkers contract doesn’t qualify as an asset to me.

Trade Smart for some guy. Trade Jaylen for some young big. Okongwu? I don't know if he's even good but at least he's young and big. Maybe we can get Hunter out of it. Trade Kemba for cap space. Cut Carsen Edwards.
Tatum gets a Curry "injury" for 2021-22.
Championships thereafter.

If Miami gets desperate, would a deal around Kemba and Dragic (team option picked up) work?

If they miss out on Kawhi and Lowry, maybe.

What would it take to get Smart on the Lakers?

I like the concept for memphis, but that's a little too much, IMO. Take out the future picks and they can absorb Brown into cap space so no need for Winslow.
