Thank you Danny. You have a special place in my heart and in Celtic history. You may go to another team ( I hear the Jazz?) but you will always be a Celtic. I know the last few years were tough so go enjoy yourself. You’ve earned it!

Thank you Danny and best of luck in the future. Really enjoyed your run with the Celtics but you also left at the appropriate time as well. Thank you for the Tony Allens, Al Jeffersons, and even Ricky Davis. Most of all thank you for the championship. Oh and one more thank you for bringing back Antoine for the #88 era, that was a fun run. Sad day to see you go but joyous expectations in hope for the future.

Thank you Danny, we constantly didn't deserve you and you kept delivering anyway. Thanks for the chip, dumping IT just in time, giving us a nonstop parade of top talent, the Jays, and mostly for not drafting Fultz

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
Danny did a great job bringing a title to a non-premier player destination via aggressive moves. He was rolling on the rebuild for a 2nd one all the way thru the Gordon injury. Then egos, further injuries, and bad luck from crap teams having good years when we had their picks and a disastrous 2019 off-season did him in. But, he was super close to pulling it off twice. That's pretty dang impressive. And even the failure of the 2nd one involved a great draft day move to get Tatum and an extra pick.

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
Gotta say this is a sad day for me. I’m happy for Danny in that he thought about it and decided it was time but it feels like I lost an old friend. Selfishly I hope he stays retired and doesn’t go to another team but that’s not how the world works these days. Jerry west didn’t stay with the lakers nor did Riley so I fully expect Danny to resurface somewhere

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
Danny & Doc tough loved Paul TO Super Star FROM All Star.
Created the championship team which won in 08 & should have won in 09 & 10.
Made the trade in 13 which I passionately hated but knew was right - which eventually got us the Jays.
Created the stacked Jays + Kyrie + GH team which was **** by Hayward’s freak fracture & Flat Earth’s duplicity.
His number should be the next to go up - almost 40 years of Celtics service - 3 banners!
But it was time to go back to Utah.

SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

It´s been a great ride. Excellent GM. It was just time to leave. I was asking for this move because the franchise needs fresh new air.
I believe it´s been 18 years in the job. Congrats and thank you, Danny

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
Before Danny players would talk about not reporting if traded to the Celtics. The "best" free agent signings we got was "all-star" Dana Barros and a way over the hill Dominique Wilkins. He helped put us back on the map and got us respect in the league again. Something we had completely lost post-Bird.
I also cannot express how bad our front office often was in the 90s up until his hire. If the Lakers were playing chess we were struggling to not lose at tic-tac-toe. Hell. We nearly traded Paul Pierce for Vitaly Potapenko. When we couldn't get that done in time we ended up trading the pick that became Andre Miller instead.
The very notion that we would try to get space under the cap to try to sign a free agent was foreign to us until Danny got here.
Wish him the best and thank him for his service.

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
I have followed Ainge since the Celtics drafted him in the 2nd round in both baseball and basketball. The speculation that he ends up in Utah sure seems correct. He is obviously Mormon and was born in Oregon and played ball at BYU/Phoenix/Portland so he has super strong west coast roots. It doesn't hurt that the Jazz are pretty good right now and perhaps a favorite to make it out of the west given the state of Lebron's and AD's health.

Great gm. Got us a championship. Set us up for one in the future. If we had better luck? Should have had 2 more.

Danny Ainge is responsible for putting together the team that gave me the greatest moment of my sports fandom and for that I will always be thankful.
Bad luck with the injuries to KG, Perk, and Hayward plus some tough free agent decisions. If you replayed his tenure here 10 times I think this was probably one of the two or three worst outcomes. We very easily could have won 3 straight titles from 2008-2010 and then been in the finals a couple times in the last five years.

Re: Danny Ainge Appreciation Thread
His last game was pathetic.
Sitting in the dugout, getting paid an extra million dollars for promising to never play basketball.
They send him in to be a pinch runner.
The only way he could get on base.
Stood there.
Batter was out.
Career over.
