i think brad might prioritize size and length a bit more. he seemed to be pretty frustrated with always having to be undersized.

Danny was in love with undersized guys that can't shoot. Hopefully Stevens doesn't buy into that philosophy.

Ainge loves length and size, you guys are mad. Literally has Tacko Fall on the roster. Chose Tatum over Fultz. Brown due to size and length, Rob Williams. Langford and Nesmith are both very long. He takes size and length in the lottery. Gerald Green, James Young, Jordan Mickey, Fab Melo. You don't have to look for very long at his draft selections to find players with length.
Inb4 you list Tremont Waters and other picks in the 50s.
If Stevens has say, though, I think he has tremendous scouting acumen as evidenced by his finding gems at Butler.

I'm all for trading Kemba Walker and pick #16 for just about anything-- even Al Horford 2.0 or Kevin Love. Well, maybe not Kevin Love-- but it's close.
Kemba and #16 to MN for Rubio and filler would be fine with me.

So with Ainge gone does that mean we can draft someone who doesn't suck or is hurt for 90% of his career again?

I would love this. A playmaking point guard who can defend, count me in !

I would rather have the owners pay the luxury tax and keep our #16 pick but i'm under no illusions that we have owners that said they're done paying money but also don't want to sell the asset low after a covid season.

I think everyone can agree we need a infusion of talent on top of many other things, How are we supposed to increase our team's talent by trading away our 16th pick?
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

By using it to acquire a mediocre point guard who can't score in Ricky Rubio of course.
Do you know what they call a point guard who can't score in the 2021 version of the NBA? Bad.

If the opportunity presents itself, Brad will draft Giddey as PG. Why? He's pretty pissed at coaching undersized PGs on the roster in his entire Celtics career so far. It might be a while before he can find another 6'8 PG in his lifetime.

I'd love to get Giddey. He's gonna be a star. With his passing ability, court vision and unselfishness, he'd really help us maximize the scoring ability of Tatum and Brown.
From what I've heard and read, though, it seems like a slim chance he will still be on the board when we're up at 16..

Roko could be the next in a long line of really good NBA players who came from Croatia. Here's the list, which includes Dino Radja, Toni Kukoc and Drazen Petrovic and current players like Bojan Bogdanovic on the Jazz and Ivaca Zubac on the Clippers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Croatian_NBA_players
You can definitely see some Kukoc and Radja in Roko's game.
Pretty cool video, which has Roko game footage but also an interview so you can get to know Roko as a person. Seems like a nice kid who really works hard and is determined to be the best player he can be, especially when the interviewer asks him what part of his game he wants to improve, he says "everything".
Also pretty cool that his dad played basketball professionally in Croatia (for the same team Roko is on now) and that is why (ever since he was 2 years old) Roko has wanted to play basketball as well.
This kid could be the steal of the draft.

Thought I saw his name in the teens in some mock. Someone always sneaks up the draft board. This is even before the Combine. what a offseason this is going to be.

Yeah I saw him as high as 18th in a recent mock. Early mocks all had him in the 2nd round. Seems like his stock is going up as more people learn about him. These international guys sometimes fly under the radar at first.
Will definitely be interesting to see how rankings/mocks/big boards shift after the combine and as we get closer to the draft..

the way Luka has been playing certainly doesn't hurt the international players' cause. At minimum the full time Pro-playing-experience on the international level > college playing.

haha, definitely has a young looking face.
But Roko has already played 4 seasons professionally. Only 4 games during the first season, but still.. 4 games and 26 mins a game averaging 10.5 PPG as a 15 year old playing in a pro league against grown men is pretty crazy.

IDK. It really depends on who is available. Also, I haven't evaluated Poko very much. My understanding is he is really tall, 7'0" and for a guy who is that tall he's quick, can handle the ball and shoot it. But he's very skinny, needs to bulk up, add strength, he seems really soft. I'm not sure I would touch him. Pretty different player than Roko.
Poko is an interesting player. He is listed as a center and is an ok rebounder. And he's 7'0" but you watch him play and it's like, um, he's so damn skinny and he has the game of a wing so it's like um, is he a wing or is a center? So I'm not sure about him, not sure if I would draft him, or how high I'd draft him. He went 17th, so not as much risk at that point and less good players available at that point. So at 17, sure, why not draft a guy who is 7'0" and is quick, can shoot, handle the ball for a guy of that size.
I feel like Roko is better, stronger frame, better defense and more defined position. I'd probably take him a little higher..
