What are the other guys supposed to do? Luka has the ball in his hands every possession. He's started to look like he's laboring here in the 2nd quarter, so he's not exactly getting them clean looks, sometimes even good looks like that last pass to THJ in the corner.

Mavs role players are supposed to knock down tough contested 3s or they suck? Is that it?

Even if Luka is playing great, I can't help but to think he's taking way too many shots right now. He's going for 35 FGA. He's a great passer, get your teammates involve. He'll tire himself out. He has missed some makable shots in the last few minutes.

EDIT : That's what I'm talking about.

Yeah, he's been taking too many shots. I mean in the 1st quarter he was just cooking LAC, so don't fix it if it ain't broke, but when he came back in the 2Q, he fell to the floor, got caught up on a rebound, and generally looked a little banged up. He still forced it because he doesn't have another ball handlers/penetrator to pass off to in that situation. Well he does, but Carlisle isn't playing Brunson & Luka together. I can kinda understand that, but I would really like to see the Clippers have to defend Luka & Brunson together.

That's the point of a zone. They're shooting 35% (7-20), and they're not getting the same easy layups they got in game 4. We have to give them those (a lot of them have been contested or at least closed out), to be able to protect the rim. That's the position the Mavs are in.

The problem is nobody can do anything with the ball. If Luka doesnt set them up, they cant score. He has to play like he is playing for the Mavs to even have a chance. If he had a legit #2 who can create something, it would be completely different. He cant keep this up though so Clippers will go on a run in the 2nd half and thats going to be it for the game. Clippers by 5-10 is my guess.

Well yeah, that's my point : he's great at setting up and like seeing a balance. I'm not convinced that him taking 38 FGA can result in a win. One or two of the role players have to get going.
