This scenery demo of Horizon so far doesn't do much for me after watching the Unreal 5 engine showcase yesterday.

ETA: apparently this is all we're going to get until 4:00 PM CST.

The Riftbreaker looks interesting, day 1 xbox game pass. I think there's a demo for PC.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut is on Steam right now for 90% off, which is like $4.49. Highly recommend.

Keep us updated on what you think of it. Ironically, it's Wasteland 3 that's keeping me from other games. On my 3rd playthrough on tougher difficulty and I think I finally love my roster and decisions. By next week I should be completely ready for the DLC.

Did you achieve the November Reigns ending yet?

I'm just about to the end and on track, but I'm also completely broke and I don't know that I have the right party setup to bring me over the finish line. So instead of worrying about that I installed Skyrim, some mods, and now I'm gonna leisurely **** around Tamriel for a while.

Kinda figured that would happen.

What I don't get is why people seem so upset that it's going to be on PS4 as well. I mean, if you have a PS5, get it for the PS5. What does it matter to you if PS4 users also get to play the game? Like Sony isn't here to make as much money as possible.

Not gonna lie, I was disappointed to see it was gonna be on PS4 too. To me that signals that it won't be a true next-gen game.

I guess I can see your point there.

I had Spider-man on PS4 and the remastered version on PS5 felt pretty next-gen to me compared to to the PS4 version. I expect the same and more for Ragnarok PS4 vs PS5.

They’re more like PCs now. Being on PS4 just means you have minimum specs.

I totally get it, but RAC and Horizon FW are both PS4 releases also and I have seen how completely amazing those look on PS5. So I'm not sure how much the concern applies to Sony titles.

RAC is a PS5 title and it helps my point because it looks worlds better than Horizon, a game I didn't think looked next gen at all.

Wait, really? I could have sworn it was also PS4. God am I glad I got this thing.

Surprised that anyone sees the current next-gen consoles as looking that much better than the PS4/XB1. I think this is by the far the weakest graphical improvement between console generations in gaming history. I've been playing MGSV Legendary Edition on a 4K TV and it looks just as good as anything I've seen played on the PS5......and that game came out in 2015.

I finished a Mass Effect 1 playthrough the other day (picked up the Legendary Collection a couple of weeks back), and it's fascinating to look back on it 13 years later. The world-building, exploration, and plot all hold up well, and it's good to remember how revolutionary the dialogue system was for its time, but yeesh, the gameplay was mediocre when it came out, and has aged terribly. Outside of the last ~2 hours of the game, the level design is bland, the shooting floaty and imprecise, and equipment management is maddening. The last sequence still totally rules, though.

On to Mass Effect 2, which is a very different game, both in structure, and gameplay. It's the Dirty Dozen to ME1's Raiders of the Lost Ark. The dialogue system is refined, character writing takes a big leap, and the gameplay goes from bad to very, very good. I'm 2 hours in, and already back on my ****. Insanity difficulty, Vanguard (only way to play), and about to melee the **** out of a Krogan or twelve.

Yep, I actually prefer the plot, pacing, free-roaming exploration, and overall Star Trek-y feel of ME1. But the gameplay mechanics are lacking and there's a reason why ME2 is widely regarded as a substantial improvement on the original. The graphical improvements made to ME1 are pretty awesome though, and the tweaks they made to the combat mechanics (they finally fixed the Mako's turret!) have made gun fights slightly less frustrating. It's like playing a whole new game.

I don’t think the graphic leaps are that huge anymore either as opposed to say jumping from an Xbox to an Xbox 360. I think the current gen looking better will come down to how developers implement ray tracing, as lighting is a significant key to making things look better even if the poly count is the same. If they don’t do much with it, yeah, it’ll stay kind of disappointing.

I’ve only played as a Vanguard for maybe half of part two and some part 3 multiplayer, so for my Legendary Edition runs I decided to give it a shot. It was fine in ME1, but I’m loving it so far in ME2 with Charge. That chart is great  I still love infiltrator - I think they nailed the gameplay with 2 and 3, and it’s the easiest way I’ve found to clear insanity. I was ready for something new though.

I think they made some great updates to ME1, but I wish they leaned even more into bringing the movement/shooting in line with the other two. I still had a great time with it, though. Oh, and ME1 still has the best music.

This game looks like it was custom made for my wife so she's pretty excited. I'll probably dump a ton of hours playing it with her.

That looks incredible.
