How did the Mavs slow down Leonard? I didn’t get to watch the game.

Did I say you said jitters?

Nope, I just thought you saying "the kid doesn't have jitters" was an answer to what I wrote.

Anyway, it feels good that they won and I have to go to sleep. I have to be up at 6 and it's 1 over here. :)

Get some Zzzzzzs bro (if you can). I'm too jacked up! This was a great game!!

They went with a 2-1-2 zone early on and had Boban in the middle of the paint with KP on the baseline ready to help. Kawhi didn't get very many easy ones early on. Plus, Luka was filthy in the 1st quarter. Kawhi never got anything out in transition. The Mavs zone dared the Clippers to shoot open 3s, which they did. But, they were only 7 for 20 at the half.

Then in the 2nd quarter & parts of the 2H, the Mavs started doubling Kawhi to get the ball out of his hands. Kawhi never really got in a rhythm, and he also missed some open 3s. Somehow DFS and I think Powell or THJ were able to pick Kawhi's pocket twice late in the 4th quarter.

I would expect Kawhi to play better in game 6, but the Mavs definitely gave him some different looks in this game. Well played Coach Carlisle!

OK do we win this game if Boban does not play?

Yessir!!! They were asking Kenny Smith on the postgame about the HOU/SAS series where the road team won the first 5 games, and then HOU went back and won game 6. He said, "When you win the first 2 on the road, it's human nature to relax thinking you got this going back home up 2-0. Then when we went to San Antonio for game 5, I got off the plane and said It's good to be back home... He basically said, when we left San Antonio we knew we weren't coming back because our antennas were up. We weren't going to go back home and let what happened in games 3 & 4 happen again."

I think the Mavs are going to come out for the knockout punch in game 6. Plus, what Chuck said after game 4 (when he guaranteed the Clippers wouldn't lose another game in this series. Lol! Thank you Chuck!) The Clippers are frontrunners. They stress & they make mistakes when the pressure is on them. Cue the end of the 4th quarter with all of their uncharacteristic turnovers.

If the Clippers get off to a bad start in game 6, watch & see how they get flustered. They're the Clippers for a reason.

I don't think so. Mavs haven't proven they can stay in front of Kawhi or PG. Without Boban, Carlisle doesn't try the zone. Without the zone, the Clippers have another layup line.

Thanks for the reply. As much crap as Carlisle gets, that’s a pretty clever adjustment. If they can keep Leonard in the 20-30 point game and a role player doesn’t step up big time then I like the Mavs’ chances in that scenario.

I figured out Carlisle's game plan.

Let Terrence Mann and Nic Batum think they are Jordan and Pippen, and have shoot themselves out of the game.

The Mavs clearly need a rim protector. That's A1 priority for the offseason.

If KP is more comfortable shooting jump shots then so be it. It has to be a mobile big man that can switch fast on D.

Mentally they are a very weak team, you're exactly right. Luka needs to play 40+ minutes again probably. They can't contain him and when he sits it is a huge relief for them. That run in Game 3 is haunting and I hope Rick wouldn't make that mistake again if the Mavs manage to get off to a fast start similar to that one. Mavs need to bury them and now there are 2 chances. CLIPS ARE IN THE MUD :D

Mavs were +15 with Luka on the floor and -10 without him. He was only on the bench for 5 1/2 minutes.

Powell was the key today. Without him the Mavs would get blown out in the 3rd. He came in, stopped the bleeding and kept setting good screens for Luka for easy buckets. Thats when they went on that 25-5 run which gave them a 14pt lead. I think that was what won them the game in the end. Clippers looked great until Powell checked in.

DFS played a great defensive game. His 5 steals was huge.

I'm pretty sure Zach Lowe said on his podcast after game 4 that the Mavs were +9 in the series with Luka on the floor and -19 with Luka off the floor.

If that's the case then the new total is +24 with Luka on the floor in 197 minutes and -29 without Luka on the floor in 43 minutes.

*granted if you take game 4 out of the mix, when Luka was clearly in pain & not the same, those numbers look a bit better.

Powell had a HUGE effort offensive rebound where he outjumped 3 Clippers for a rebound, coming out of position to do it & it led to a open THJ 3. Powell had the assist too. That was a big play.

Thing you gotta love about Powell is he goes from 22 min a game down to 4 min a game the first 4 games of this series, and you don't hear about him pouting or complaining. As a matter of fact, I see him cheering his teammates on when they cut to the Mavs bench. And then you see a professional, prepared & ready to impact the game when his number is called. That was huge. Hopefully we continue to see Powell in game 6.
