that is a puuuuuurty swing

This kid has really filled out. Has he shot up in height and weight in recent years?

With him and Baty both slotted for 3B, we may have a bit of a conundrum at some point. What say you guys?

baty probably ends up not sticking at 3b, he was never good there.

He has, I heard they might give Mauricio reps in the OF because he is so tall.

But 3B is his likely position. We will be seeing the DH in the future so if he can hit they will find a spot for him. Also we never know when guys will be needed to enhance the team via trade. Good problem to have with so much young hitting depth in the system.

PCA and Alvarez look like the real deals as well.

With the way both are mashing, potentially, 2022 at the earliest assuming they get to AA this year (which seems likely at this rate). Then they could start at AAA next year with a taste of MLB if they need them (but most likely 2023 for the full year). PCA and Alvarez are after that 2023 or 2024

Alvarez might not be the best defensive catcher but dude mashes.

Too early but, is Cano trade worst trade in Mets franchise history?
It is up there with Jay Buhner trade for Yankees.

Yes. Mets gave up their best prospect when taking the salary dump would have sufficed.

Btw, anyone else see Pillar get smacked in face with a 95 mph fastball last night? He walked off the field under his own power.

I can't believe we came back and won that game last night. I turned it off before the Mets got up in the top of the 12th inning because I lost faith. Rojas taking Stroman out after only 6 innings (88 pitches) pissed me off but not as much as the 2-Run HR Castro gave up after coming in for Sto in the 7th.

Nice to see Khalil Lee get his first hit and it was a memorable one.

Is he really that bad of a catcher, defensively? He also looks like a fat slob ... not that fat slobs can't hit (see e.g. Bartolo Colon  )

it's not that, he has an elite bat and i don't want his knees to deal with squatting and also playing 140+ games instead of 115-120.

he's 5'10" and 230, he has a wilson ramos body.

So he's just thick muscularly? Is he athletic? If so, maybe he can play 3B or LF. Anyhow, a lot of catchers are squaty. If we can get a good 5-7 years out of him, that's a win.

Is he a net positive behind the plate?

no he's a big thick dude like vlad jr.

and yes a lot catchers squat, not a lot are the talent alvarez is with the bat.

and do you hear yourself? a good 5-7 years out of him? he's 19 ... put him at dh and you're getting 10 good years out of him.

Maybe he can play 3B? He's got that Ron Cey/Pablo Sandaval physique. That way we could move Pete to DH and Dom to 1B where he needs to be. He's such a much better fielder than Pete, even though Pete has definitely improved.

you do know dom has a positive grade in left field right? he's a plus defender there.

and alvarez is a slow plotting guy, it's catcher, first base or dh.
