MWP, You got to give up the idea of going Big. Spo is a system coach like Phil and D'Antoni. Pat tried in the past to influence Spo to make more emphasis on size and rebounding and it never happens. Pat just gonna have to find the players that fit Spo system

7'4 & 7'3 combined for 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 0 blocks ... and the Mavs got outrebounded by the Clippers who played exactly one guy > 6'8 for all of 20 minutes.

The Clippers are outrebounding the Mavs for the series too (217 to 195).

We didn't get outrebounded because of our size. We got outrebounded because our players are a bunch of bitches who had checked out. Rebounding, like blocking in football, is mostly about technique and want to.

Sure you can find players who are smaller that can board but they are also burly and stout or just flat out pogo sticks. Ariza and Iggy are not that type.

I want taller, athletic players as well. Not 7 foot stiffs, but guys who can move. I'd be willing to gamble on guys like that. Ibou Dianko Badji comes to mind, but he is a real project. Don't know how many projects we can afford to carry.

Better off looking at the free agent list rather then draft prospects. No way Riley is adding any significant drafted players to the core rotation next year. He’s still dealing with projects in Achuiwa and Okpala.

I don't recall anyone standing out. Any names worth looking at?

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/ You can search by position. The 4-5 spots don’t look so hot but maybe a gem or two can be found on the cheap side.

We have a talent issue, not a size issue. If we had the 2016 version of Dragic, Ariza, and Iggy, we would be the exact same size but we would be killing people.

2 general thoughts and a lineup :

1) I do like the idea and think we definitely need to try to move Bam to the 4, and play a huge C next to him. A big guy that can shoot some and blocks shots. I hate seeing Bam being undersized at his position every single night.

2) the most important skill in today's NBA is the pull up jumper. We need to invest most resources into getting that guy that can just take the ball, create a good look for himself (mainly 3's) and drain them at a good clip.

This skill is CRUCIAL for an elite playoff offense. And we're very much lacking in that skill.

C : Huge C that shoot some and protect the rim
PF : Bam
SF : Jimmy
SG : Duncan/Herro (or another more versatile player that can shoot)
PG : The best shot creator/drainer we could get (Lowry? trade Herro + things for someone?)

PS - we already paid the price for Dipo, at this stage the smart move is to keep him for cheap and hope he can bounce back as a 6th man later next season.

Just sign Richaun Holmes and work some creative cap magic to acquire Lowry even if it means losing our RFAs and team options. Would love to sign Powell as well but he'll probably command too much on the open market. Lock Bam and Butler in a gym all offseason to work on their shooting

Holmes doesn't shoot 3s but he's not a complete spacing liability; he shot over 62% from 10-16 feet last season and has been improving from 16-3P so he doesn't have to be clogging the paint on offense

It embarrasses me beyond belief that we were the only team to get swept.

DON'T WASTE ANY MONEY RE-SIGNING ANY OF THESE BUMS.

Bam has to go too. You can't have a max contract player be completely unable to create his own shot. It's unacceptable. Locking him up to that extension was a huge mistake. With Bam it's always can't do this, can't do that. WTF did we sign him to a max to then if all he can do at an elite level is switch on defense.

If Winslow gets cut, are you all going to want him back?

Dear god no. We have enough disappointing bums who can't shoot or stay healthy.

DeRozan would be an awful fit in a line up with Jimmy and Bam. He shouldn't even be mentioned.

Lol, getting ‘swept’ is overblown. Makes no difference if you lost in 4 vs if you lost in 5.

Wow. That's big news. Remember how many folks on this board thought he'd be crazy to decline that much money on his player option? He must have a good idea he's getting that $100 million.

so do we have any explanation as to Jimmys performance?

was he injured?
fighting with coaches?
