sham is right. we needed to tank this year to get a future star. but all things went "our" way. we had the only healthy "stars" in the league and were riding the wave, grinding every single game. season is a mental win, but could be bad in the longterm.

While Windhorst declined to name a specific All-Star player, he added that he has guesses about which players could potentially be lured to play in the Big Apple. He cited several reasons as to why players would want to play for the Knicks, from its status as one of the league’s biggest markets, the team’s collection of draft picks, and sizeable cap space that could be used to sign more players.
"Here's the thing," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast. "They have one of the top former agents in the league running the organization in Leon Rose.
"Their number two in their team, I'm not sure what Wes Wesley's title is, but his speciality is relationship building with players. Even if it has waned a little bit as he's gotten older, his speciality is relationship building. And I don't want to say 'backroom dealing' because that implies that it is sinister. But he's known for working in the shadows.
"They play in New York City. They have an abundance of draft picks, young assets and cap space.
"The only sort of flaw in here is I'm not sure every player wants to play for Thibs, but there are some who like them.
"I say within the next 12 months a star, slash, superstar player demands a trade to New York. And I don't know who it's going to be. I have some guesses. I'm not going to say right here. I'll let you guys start thinking about that. Let's just put it this way: league executives certainly have some guesses.
Unless the star slash superstar is Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic, or Zion Williamson, I don't care and neither should you.

Look what you did to Mitch this season and how you jinxed the Knicks from getting KD and Kyrie. Your game thread was also a complete let down because you switched up last minute. And now your curse is going to linger into the off season so we’re getting oladipo. Thanks a lot for ruining the Knicks!

Dead serious... which disgruntled star who can put us in contention is going to demand a trade here?
All of the true franchise players are established where they are right now.

There is absolutely nothing long term bad about this season, if they traded picks are signed bad contracts, and lost in the first round sure, then that argument could be made..the knicks are in position to do anything they want, they have cap flexibility to sign anyone they want, they have picks to either move up or to trade for a player, they have young players on the squad. People act like the knicks mortgaged their future just to get into the playoffs. I need to keep reminding the clueless negative knicks fans, their is arguably not any team better situated than the knicks are at the moment. They have the lowest payroll, most cap space, tons of picks, one of the youngest rosters..I mean to be negative about this franchise now is nothing more than be stuck on your typical knicks nonsense

yes but the players run the league so it's not always what it seems.. all it takes is one of them to have a bad day and change their mind. What happens if Brooklyn sweeps the bucks and Giannis looks at a capped out future of Bryn Forbes and Donte divincenzo and the little town of Milwaukee and says screw this I want the bright lights of NY. We have the assets and cap to do that.

So then the question is...did we do enough to shed the negative stereotype that has been attached to us for the past couple of years? Are we now a team that players don't mind coming to knowing what we pulled off with the little that we had? Hoping the answer to this is "Hell YES".

No we don't... Boston gives them Jaylen Brown and scraps and future first rounders. game over. We don't have a single player on Brown's level.

Yeah it's absurd the amount of fantasizing going on here. We have the assets for a pseudo star that another team is looking to get rid of in a rebuild (CJ McCullum, maybe). Trading/FA will not save us in the short-term.

fantasizing? really? again the key for any franchise is to have flexibility, the knicks have everything they need, cap space, draft picks, young talent, I mean you are just complaining for the sake of complaining, or largely because you can't get the same ole knicks out of your head..as i pointed out before, the old knicks would have mortgaged their future to try to get in the playoffs to not even make it..stop with the negativity it's depressing and stupid at this point tbh
