Thanks for the lesson, Mr. Miyagi. Really kind of you, sir.

TBH that's the archetype that fits him. It sounds blasphemous because Klay is essentially 1b in terms of GOATNESS with his shooting and when you attach Klay's name to a kid that's the expectation. But in the raw form of what Klay does averaged down he's an elite 3&D piece to a winning team. That's the mold Moses fits.

i think Moses has a bit more ancillary skills than Klay offensively tho potentially, his ability to get the stripe alone is a pretty big difference, which has always been a weakness of Klay's.

also Moses will be a decent shooter (good enough), but Klay's off-screen/picks shooting is just legendary, it's hard to make that comp unless you think Moses will be close to that as well because that's where Klay gets most of his value on offense.

i think he'll be less dramatic offensively than Klay scoring wise, more of a utility guy tho, which is why I comped him to Butler earlier (as a high end outcome).

As I said in the OP, I just don't see the appeal for him in the first 7/8 picks.

Appreciate all the posts here.

He might seem like a reach in the 6-8 range. But who is a better option in the 6-8 range? After the consensus top 5, the next group of 10 or so guys (you could argue) are debatable/interchangeable.

If the gm of your org see's potential beyond a catch and shoot off ball prospect based on his defense and decent length athletic ability etc then he could get looks there but I doubt he goes that high . I think he seems pretty limited as a scorer in isolation right now aside from straight drives with that Harrison Barnes handle of his.Maybe if he actually was an elite off ball mover and shot better with defenders close I would buy the Klay comp as a ceiling as is I don't think it is realistic just optimistic

I don't know if any player is necessarily *likely* to make an extraordinary leap offensively. I just think it's weird that with Keon and Kuminga we're encouraged to let our imaginations run wild with all kinds of possibilities where they transform into brilliantly skilled offensive players. And then with Moody it's like sorry, the player he is now at 18 is the same player he's going to be for the next 15 years.

The draft becomes way too flat after pick 5 or 6 and I would trade the pick if I'm the Warriors. There is no time left for Curry and Klay to wait on a 19 year old to fully develop if he even does.

I like Moody in the early teens. I don't like his foot speed and ball handling. He has great length but I don't like his lateral quickness until he changes my mind during the combine.

What are people’s thoughts on him playing the three?

When he's fully matured, he could be a 4. Book it!

Klay did get to the line in college though. It's hard to know what will translate. I mean if that translates for Moody, it's obviously a big deal.

i have him as a 2/3 swing, that's why he's so high for me, should be able to play both positions on both ends of the floor no problem in a couple of yrs.

Agreed. I think he works with Fox/Hali.

Are there examples of wings who averaged in the neighborhood of 5 free throws and 2 offensive rebounds per game as college freshmen but ended up being 1-dimensional shooters in the NBA?

Booker was a better athlete for sure, but I can see some of his game in Moody.

My favorite pick at #7 for Raptors.. Moody is perfect fit with FVV + OG + Pascal and who ever who acquire at the center. I'm extremely high on Moody, I like him much better then guys only seen as high potential like Keon, Barnes and even Kuminga...

Chuck Everett wrote:He also has no motor from what I saw. This guy is going to play hard for an entire season (let alone a career)? I remain skeptical.

Wait, is there any truth to this? First time hearing he doesnt have a motor and if true thats huge.

Prior to draft most cons on Mo Bamba were that he had no motor and didn't really care about basketball that much, us Orlando fans pretty much came to the conclusion that such things dont really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Oh how we were wrong! I would NEVER draft a player that didnt have a motor or love for the game. You see it in Bamba literally every single game and there has been several instances that his own teammates called him lazy.

I was a big fan of Moody but if this claim is factual and actual scouts have said this then I would stay CLEAR away.

not sure where Moody has ever had motor issues. Kid plays very hard. That would be the last thing i would be concerned with from him.

I mean you should watch him and then decide for yourself.

Of course, most of us who actually have watched him would think this statement is nonsense but you should DYODD.

If Orlando picks Mobley or Kuminga I could def. see Moody in play for #8 if the Chicago pick converys and he's still on the board.

What about a PG like Giddey/Mitchell/Springer (keep VanVleet at the 2) or a center like Sengun for the Raptors at no. 7?

More of a need position since you have VanVleet at the 2, Onunoby at the 3 and Siakam at the 4 plus Giddey/Mitchell/Springer/Sengun are all arguably better than Keon/Barnes anyways (Kuminga will be gone by then)..
