Goodman has talked to Danny and says Wyc wasn't going to go for Zarren or Austin, given how mediocre the results were this year. Wyc didn't personally know the other guys and didn't want to go with someone he didn't know. But he obviously knows, likes and respects Brad, so that was who he wanted. And of course it solved the money problem. Sounds like Brad is really intrigued by the role, too.

Goodman suggests Juwan Howard as a coach. A. Sherrod is gushing about Billups (but says it's not going to be Chauncey or Sam and Becky will be on the short list).

Can we trade for Chris Paul in the offseason as our player and coach?

I wont lie this whole situation sucks big time. We just lost the GM/Coach…have bunch of players that need to be moved…have two studs in Jayson Tatum and Brown that’s about it. Its gonna take a real genious to fix this. I hope Tatum’s prime time wont be wasted on years trying to rebuild. From Pats Dismantling to now Celtics. Hard pill to swallow I wont lie.

Ugh, that’s not a good reason to give a guy a job. I hope Brad is the right guy for it.

It probably should say the Celtics are expected to try and trade Walker

Brad seems to be a terrible judge of talent. Couldn’t think of a worse series of events. Would have been better off just running it back.

I don't know, it really seems to me that if Brad was signed to the Celtics for just one more year, he wouldn't be in this position. Maybe I'm just 100% wrong though.

Tatum said something about Coach K so it's not like they're too busy.

One things for certain; on this board the usual blame went to Danny and Brand but people should also be pointing fingers in terrible ownership as of late as well. We are Boston Celtics and as of late we are just mediocre on every level. Brad is a good guy and a decent NBA coach, but he DID NOT EARN to be the GM & nor does he have the credentials to do the job. This is basically screaming GREED from Wyc and the rest of the ownership group. I hope we don’t become a laughing stock like the Knicks were for many years.

I never Danny that much but now the greed I see from the ownership & maybe some of his moves he wanted to make were not approved by the higher ups.

Danny leaving was not “mutual” “well wishes” bs.

I expect a lot of rumors to unfold in the upcoming weeks. Up to you to choose which ones are real and which ones are not. We are toast for now.

He did take a mid major -- granted one with a nice basketball tradition in a basketball crazed state -- to the NCAA Finals twice.

Overall he was a good coach for years but my big issue was him was not holding players accountable, especially star players.

My biggest concern with Stevens as gm is he may be risk averse by NBA standards.

Trading Jaylen Brown for picks/players that have potentially to be 2.5 times as valuable as let's say Beal or could bust may be Celtics best shot at a championship but I am afraid Stevens may just take the safe path. If you have a winning hand like the Lakers in 1980 or Bulls with Jordan/Pippen/Grant, you can afford to mostly play it safe but in Celtics current position they have a good hand (Tatum is excellent) but they aren't positioned right now to be title favorites anytime soon.

I’m sure she would be good, would be interesting to see if she is a good fit here.

About 10 minutes before reading this I was thinking about an unlikely scenario where we want Lawson but concede she needs more experience so we make a godfather offer to Pop to coach out his last 2-3 years at Celtics with Lawson senior assistant and it explicitly stated she will succeed Pop.

So the start of your post got my heart racing for a minute, even though Becky is also excellent.

If the goal was winning championships in the long run, there were thousands of basketball coaches better than Stevens in the short run when the Celtics hired him. Anyone willing to tank for a few years would have been better.. But of the coaches unwilling to tank, Stevens was a very good hire for that position given where the Celtics were at.

But right now he would be among all of the "non tanking" GM candidates at least, one of my top choices for GM. It helps that he is familiar with Celtics roster. Having coached for 8 years, he now knows NBA talent a hell of a lot better than he did 8 years ago. he also has a clue of the type of talent it takes to win championships.

So, knowledge isn't really were Stevens is lacking but we will see how good he is at making trades, drafting, and managing the cap.

Stevens has sometimes alluded to the fact that the Celtics are "small". It is his job to try to fix that real issue and other issues.

Zarren handles the business and Brad will probably handle the player relations side. Danny was out of touch with today’s players especially with the dumb comments he made lately.

Jesus Christ. The absolute eggshells people have to walk on these days.

What eggshells? Denying that racism has occurred in the TD Garden despite literally banning a fan for calling Boogie Cousins the N word and Marcus Smart publicly talking about being called the N word isnt exactly eggshells…

Embrace the change, this will not be a dismantle. it’s going to be a strong reload! I just hope Kemba goes and Mahhhhhhhcus stays..... the coaching change alone will be a huge boost for the J’s and CO.
