Obviously it’s pure rumors at this point but what are you guys’s thoughts on danny ainge for gm to get Dame to the promised land? He’s proven he can do it before wouldn’t it be better than olshey again?

Word on the street is a lot of teams were refusing to work with Danny Ainge in any capacitary and thus the replacement.

Re: Danny Ainge?
Ainge isn't the worst GM. He'll get a job somewhere if he wants one. Lindsey is a better GM than Ainge. I don't know why Jazz would want Ainge. Olshey is also better than Ainge. Ainge isn't getting a job with Blazers or Jazz.

Why were they refusing?

Apparently it was the notion everyone had of Ainge always winning every trade, I guess the ego of other GM's made them not want to be put out there as, "Oh, Ainge just robbed xyz team I can't believe the haul he got for the players he gave up."
He seemed to be a victim of that complete robbery of the Nets way back.
I will say if this is true at all, Ainge is done as a GM, no team will want him no matter how good he is at the job if most teams refuse to work with him.

It's obvious made-up BS. Who would even believe such nonsense? NBA GM's are competent confident people, even if they aren't competent GM's. No GM is afraid to deal with anyone because of fear of being outmaneuvered. How can anyone believe this nonsense?
It's totally possible that some GM's might be leery of dealing with a GM that is known to leak confidential discussions. Or, maybe some GM's could avoid talks because they believe their counterpart doesn't have enough clout within their organization to deliver a deal. There are reasons why some GM's might not deal with another GM that are believable. However, this story is about the incompetent idiot that floated some obvious BS. Make sure your BS passes the smell test.

Re: Danny Ainge?
Well this might be the rumor D-train because Ainge has made 0 moves, now maybe he has been outbid on nearly every single deal he has tried to make in the past few years. I just can't think of another GM that did as little as Ainge has over the past 3 or so seasons. I would have to look it up to see exactly how many transactions he made but I have a feeling it was a lot less than others, we also would always hear rumors after the fact that Ainge tried to get Harden or Kawhi or AD.
So either he was unwilling to put up reasonable offers for those players or something of what I said holds true. Now would another GM refuse a deal with Ainge just because no, but it might make them more wary or demand more in the trade because they don't want to be a victim of Ainge getting another notch in his belt.
Again this is also RUMORS I am hearing obviously Ainge himself will never state this is true nor will any of the other 29 GM's in the league.

Perhaps Ainge had contingencies that fell through, it’s really hard to know what happened behind the scenes. Bare minimum it seems like he drafts better and makes better use of cap room than olshey ever has

Re: Danny Ainge?
Let Olshey move up in the Vulcan hierarchy.
Bring in Ainge. He's not invested in Olshey's players (cough, cough, CJ) or his coach. Two changes for the price
of Olshey stepping up. [Or Olshey can leave to fix the Lakers and go back to Manhattan Beach.]

Re: Danny Ainge?
I’m fully onboard with Ainge replacing Olshey if it can happen. I think this team needs a new vision to finish off the last half of Dame’s career. I will always support an upgrade and Ainge is a better GM than Olshey.

Re: Danny Ainge?
Maybe Olshey will send Ainge a best wishes card on behalf of the Blazers. That would be the best offer Ainge can get from Blazers.

Re: Danny Ainge?
Olshey back for 21-22, 101%
Lillard back, 100%
CJ back, 100%
Nurkic back, 100%
RoCo back, 99%
Collins back, 95%
Powell back, 90%
Simons back, 90%
Stotts back, 90% (only this low because coaches are like toilet paper)
DJJ back, 80%
Little back, 80%
CJE back, 80%
Melo back, 70%
Kanter back, 50%
This leaves very little change the peanut gallery will be placated. I love it.

If he's not making player-personnel selections, who cares? I don't care about the Seahawks, particularly.
If it brings in a better GM (Ainge is), then
Or Olshey can go back to California. The Lakers need help.

Re: Danny Ainge?
I think I could get behind this for several reasons, least obvious being that Ainge is a near HOF'er, and a former PG with RINGS. The wisdom he could lend to Dame could have a bonus effect, aside from his abilities as a GM. Olshey is an obvious bull-shitter to some degree, but has always had the checkbook to make good things happen. I do wonder how much the owners afforded Ainge in Boston. Did they allow him to spend?

Honestly i think that’s how he will leave Portland. It’ll take some team to chase him and he will give them a great interview because if winning interviews won championships he’d be the 99 spurs
