Re: The Around The NBA Thread
I've always disliked LeBron for various reasons, but he will go down as the second greatest player of all time. He is such a unique player who basically accomplished so much with all the expectations heaped on him since being a teenager. Just think about all the hype and build up he had since he was a young kid, and all that he has accomplished since, that isn't a small feat and to have had as much success as he has, he is a fascinating case.
Him flopping, his personality and all of that, though he does bother me, won't be things highlighted when you talk about his career decades from now, just as Jordan indiscretions as a player or as a person is more of a footnote and fun to talk about, but most basketball fans and casual fans don't really care or even talk about it. The fact that I was alive to witness Jordan prime, and watch LeBron throughout his career was a pleasure, and also seeing his failures has been awesome.
I think as far as Championships goes, I think he is done in that area, and if he were to win another championship, he probably won't ever be the best player on the team which wins a championship and though it will help his legacy, it won't help his case as the best of all time over Michael Jordan either.

Why so serious?

I still don't think he's better than Wilt or Kareem.

I hated Miami LeBron. I don’t hate him anymore. I actually have a lot of respect for him in a variety of ways.
But as I was watching Phoenix quickly pull away and AD leave the game, the first thing I wondered was how quickly LeBron would blame the condensed schedule and/or play in format.
Would it be tonight? A week? This summer in a random interview? Next training camp? It’s not a question of if. Just when.
I agree with this, except I still hate him. Dude is still always trying to create some story line for himself. He talked about seeing three baskets and aiming for the middle one against the Warriors, but why did he not see three shot clocks? Dude is still a diva. All time great player, but diva.
I can respect his accomplishments, and the improvements he's made to his game over the years. But still hate him for his blatant flopping and the way he acts like he's broken a bone every time someone touches him.
And for the way he's going to blame the condensed schedule, the play-in, the short off-season, Covid...
Not to mention that his response to a season where he doesn't win a ring is to either a) look for a better team to jump to, or b) recruit another top 10 player to join him.

Anyone else just notice LeCheapShot hit Ayton for no reason on CP3's drive?

Crowder has made some great defensive plays on James. Wish we had him on our team.

I don't hate LeBron as much as I did during the Heattles days, but it still feels good to see him eliminated this early.

I remember how strong the Kobe is better than MJ opinions used to be on the general board at one point. Once Kobe got hurt and old that talk quickly stopped and almost no one believes that now. If LeBron's twilight years end with lots of first-round exits/no more championships, I wonder if people will still consider him to be the 2nd greatest. I feel like Kareem in particular has gotten underrated when talking about GOATS.

If the Finals are Milwaukee vs. Utah, will Adam Silver choke someone?

CP3 makes the Suns dangerous. Without him the Suns aren’t much.
I could see Lowry doing much of the same for the Bulls. I think Lowry has more in the tank too. His ceiling obviously isn’t as high as CP3 though.
Glad Lebron is watching rest of playoffs.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Lebron didn’t even stay to congratulate or shake hands with Suns players after the game ended. What a sore loser.
After AD got hurt there was no way the Lakers were winning this series, Lebron needs another superstar next to him in order to win. Now watch Lebron jump ship to Phoenix next season lol. When his team fails he usually just leaves.

I think you are giving CP3 a little too much credit. Booker is one of the elite scorers in the league. Ayton in this series was by far the best big on the floor. Crowder and Bridges your prototypical 3 and D players. Paul played well this game especially in the 4th but Booker went supernova before that which is what got them that huge lead.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

Silver is like a skeleton he can’t choke anyone lol. For finals it’s most likely Nets but in the west it’s open, any of those teams can make it.

Monty Williams is still a great coach. Basically Thibs-lite, but less abrasive and is able to get star players to buy into his philosophy. Having CP3 helped, but he was able to establish the Suns' current identity that Thibs couldn't do in Minnesota with similar roster talent levels.

Yup. It will dissipate eventually. Thank God because the recency bias was so strong with LeBron.HomoSapien wrote:I remember how strong the Kobe is better than MJ opinions used to be on the general board at one point. For me it's Jordan, Kareem and everyone else.

Booker looked like an elite superstar tonight. He’s honestly been on another level since last year. Folks comparing Zach to him are trippin’. Though it could be a source of inspiration for Zach.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Those last 3/4 minutes from lebron actually made me angry. His defense was absolute dog ****. Not even getting back into the frame of the tv until 9 seconds were left on the shot clock on one possession. And the game was still winnable down about 12/13. You don’t get away with that at the y. That was one of the most pathetic ways to end a game I can recall and it was an elimination game
