Yes, 100%. He works at Thomas Jefferson Hospitals and a private practice in the area. Does diagnostic imaging for pro athletes.

I’m a medical professional as well. We always joke about radiologist because they always state as a disclaimer “clinical correlation needed” with their interpretation of the scans

So at the end of the day. It depends on how Embiid is feeling. If he’s in a lot of discomfort. It’s not worth playing. If he clinically is experiencing swelling. Even with small tear. It’s not worth it.

But Sixers pay other medical professionals a lot of money to handle their players. And ultimately up to Embiid. His next two years are fully guaranteed.

Obviously he due for super max extension 230 million end of next season. How much does he want to risk it.

It's a meniscus tear. If it gets worse he has surgery on it. It is probably the most minor of the surgery based knee injuries you can have. He had one a couple years back as well, and he was fine about it. Not sure why you are saying this cane become a long term thing. Now of course there is a possibility that he has more menisci issues like Bynum, etc. But that would not cause an issue if he played or not. Form what it sounds like the doctors are saying this is so small that surgery is not required.

If Embiid doesn't play then I have the Hawks winning this in 6 games. If he does then the Sixers will win this in 5.

Career, Capela holds his own: https://stathead.com/tiny/SuHYc

Head to head this season, Embiid shot 48%fg and 25%3p with 1 assist, 3 TOs, and Capela blocked him twice: https://go.nba.com/01kp. Capela shot 35% with 0 assists, 4 TOs and Embiid blocked him once: https://go.nba.com/y0ko. Disclaimer: Take NBA player tracking matchup stats for what they're worth.

No faith in capela being able to hold it down vs Embiid? Or no faith in Atlanta in general?

My cousin saw the imaging too. Turns out, his name isn't Joel at all. It's Marc, with a "c". Marc Embiid. Who knew?

AD goes down 5 mins into the game.

280 lb embiid on a partial tear? he shoudn't be playing b/c if he gets legit hurt, that could be franchise altering.

Embiid's injury is minor. He'll play. But Philly might wait until Hawks steal a game before allowing it so I have Sixers in 6. Sixers in 5 if Embiid plays game 1. We've haven't found an answer for stopping Trae yet so I expect him to go nuclear and steal a game even with Embiid playing. Our best bet is probably putting Ben on Trae.

If Embidd is 90% or better and healthy all series i got Sixers in Six although you know i'll be happy with the Hawks taking it all anyways i can lol. If Embidd is actually 50% or worse i think it goes 7 games with us possibly taking it. If Embidd is out completely i got hawks in 6.

No such thing as lockdown perimeter defense in today's NBA. The rules are slanted heavily towards ball handlers and you can only get around so many screens.

Trae is going to get his. Beal did. It's a matter of how much they can limit him and how much help they need to send to do so. Trae's ball handling, passing and off the dribble range are problematic for any defense. Trae's clearly got some more help than Beal did as well.

It’s not the rules, it’s the failure to enforce them

Virtually every team uses illegal screens to combat guys like Simmons but they’re rarely called

Im predicting a monster series for Ben here. Sixers in 6. With or without Embiid. Ben as the focal point runs the offense much faster which is good for the Sixers with all those shooters. Add the fact that the Sixers have the best perimeter defenders to counter Trae, Bog, Huerter and co.

According to your logic, Tim Duncan doesn't deserve any respect.

Feel the same way. They probably wait until game 3 to get Embiid back into the game, unless they lose game 1.
Think they start with Thybulle on Trae.

Being a Miami transplant to the Atl, I’m pulling for the hawks. Gonna be a tough series.

Don't sleep on the Hawks. They are a complete team with a legit (super)star.

I'm with you on this take with the caveat that Embiid must be at least 85% ready.

now the Hawks are a legit team can we talk about how their logo doesn't look like a hawk and instead looks like Pacman.

Trae will shine. Bogi will help. Hawks can win the series.
