Damian Lillard

Post#1 » by NYK2347 » Fri Jun 4, 2021 4:18 pm

It seems as if he is on his way out. We all know Melo is going to advise to leave and go where his heart is. His comments recently says alot. What would it take to get Lillard ? He is exactly what we need. I under his prime is maxed at maybe 2-3 years.

RJ Barret
Kevin Knox
Mitchel Robinson
Frank Nik
Immanuel Quickley
2021 #19 & #21 Pick
2022 1st round pick & 2nd round pick

Would that be enough? Don't get me wrong I love Barret and Quickley but will they peak at Lillard's level?

We would obviously make this move knowing we have a 3rd star waiting in free agency to sign with us. Who is it ?

Julius Randle
Damian Lillard
3rd Star?

Only worth it if Kawhi is coming too... Sign Abuelo Melo to the vet min, and pray to God someone on the Nets gets hurt.

This is a lot more realistic than the trade proposals I see Knick fans making where we somehow get Lillard and keep most of the young core. I’d do it too

RJ + IQ + Obi + draft picks is what I'd do but not too many... Dame is 32 after all.

And only if we had a promise from a free agent like Kawhi that he'd sign here *after* any Dame trade so you could have a Dame + Kawhi + Randle big three followed up with ring chasers.

Frank is RFA. I highly doubt Portland is so eager to sign him. Other than that, probably this package plus couple more first round picks and pick swaps is what it will take.

Exactly what I was coming to say. Focus on the RJ-Randle timeline unless we can sign Kawhi & put together a team that is going to win a ring. If we can get to Uncle Dennis & Kawhi gets on board, then we can start talking about what sort Dame packages could make sense.

yeah only way I'm giving up the farm is another big player wants to come (and the only FA like that is Kawhi).

Randle and Dame isn't good enough to win anything. They would need another big time piece.

Portland really has no say in the matter. When stars want to leave they get what they want.

That is up to him. Last night was the first sign he might be relenting that POR just can't win with him. This is where WWW comes into play. Work the back channels.

Dame not going anywhere.

They’ll just retool, I think people want him to leave vs he’s actually thinking that.

I would Swap RJ for Obi in that initial trade proposal.

Maybe it's just me... but DAME alone doesn't move the needle enough for me to give away all of our assets. Get a promise from Kawhi and we'll talk. Otherwise no way am I gutting the roster. Lillard and Randle just ain't enough to compete for a championship and a move like the aforementioned sets us back further than the Melo trade

Not worth it without someone committing to us in free agency beforehand (cause we won't have the cap space afterwards)

Dame+Randle isn't enough to win a chip. Hell, I'd say after what Portland would ask for him, we'd probably be an even worse team than the one he's leaving

Just hold on until the opportune moment. Y'all are too ready to repeat the mistakes of the Melo era. Diving head first into trading for a star without a proper plan to surround him with talent.

Dame turned 32 this year. Also, as awesome of a player as he is, Portland ain't looking to rebuild just yet. He's the franchise. They're most likely going to trade off McCollum and put Powell as Dame's running mate. IMO, the Knicks should go after McCollum.
