The problem is, we don't know how to effectively orchestrate a rebuild. The Suns were terrible for a decade plus, messed up a bunch of lotto picks, and finally struck gold on two of them. That's just how it works. Small market teams have the patience for that, and it pays off... same with the Bucks, Sixers, etc.

The Knicks have selected in the top 4 only three times in 36 years, and they've been unwatchably bad for about 60% of that time.

The only thing we haven't tried at this point is consecutive seasons of true tanking. We tank one season, then try to make a run... Gotta just pick one direction or the other.

The Suns could have taken Luka Doncic I don’t care about this dude’s FG% this whole board would have crucified him by now for not being Luka Doncic if we drafted him

Booker was taken 13th. We can pull that off. All we have to do is keep drafting Kentucky players over and over and it will work out

Not taking Doncic was a vote of confidence in Booker. The way Luka has panned out, it's not really up for debate who they'd be better off building around, but Booker is a burgeoning superstar in his own right. The fact is, they have a one two punch of young stars moving forward that they got through drafting. And the Suns took their time doing it... No playoff appearances since the Nash Amare Suns.

But without Chris Paul, Ayton would not have blossomed as fast. CP3 orchestrated the Suns beautifully and helped Booker immeasurably.
If CP3 would have been with the Knicks, RJ would have been an even better prospect. Both young talents, Obi and IQ would have made a quicker adjustment and he would have made a healthy Mitchell Robinson a beast.

Our team is in a good place right now and I would not even think about rebooting.

Suns took on cp3 and his humongous salary not because they see him as the future of the franchise (lol-worthy considering how old cp3 is) but because they need someone to teach the suns youngins how to win. Money well spent I suppose.

That's speculation... Ayton and Booker were already individually very formidable young players before Chris Paul got there. He made a difference by running the offense, raising the defensive intensity, and teaching them how to close games.

None of the youth on the Knicks have shown that potential so far. RJ improved but he's still terribly inefficient, one of the worst at his position in terms of efficiency for his usage rate.

Chris Paul will be available and I don't think it will work out as you think it would if we were to add him to this "core".
