You know... I'm actually warming up to that idea - if Dames price is going to gut the youth we've finally acquired, then I say CP3 - a TRUE PG is not a bad idea. He could mentor Quickley and just make this entire roster better. Patience is important

Randles extension.

I meant which bad deal we’d take back given our cap space lol...

https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/POR.html

Portlands 'worst' contract is CJ. Other than that their cap is clean. I mean if they want to nuke it and get picks/prospects and trade Lillard and Lillard wants to win the Knicks aren't really close in terms of making an offer and having an actual winning team in the aftermath. We just don't have any top 25 players, or top 10 picks.

We could do Dallas x 2, our 2021,3,5 and just absorb Lillard. Throw in Toppin and IQ. But if we give up Mitch or RJ he's just joining the Bobcats. He's better off staying in Portland because CJ is as good or better than Randle, Nurk and Mitch are a wash, I guess if RJ takes another leap this offseason that's appealing.

Compare that to like the Pelicans. They have 7 (SEVEN!) 1st rounders and swaps from the Lakers and Bucks in years where LeGroin will be dead and Giannis might be gone. Plus, Ingram or Ball who are youngish. They have Zion. Dame should just go there.

He can't walk or lift a jug of milk right now? Do you know Tomb Thibs is our coach? He destroyed our two "best" players this year and even rode a fossil like Rose to 35+ minutes. Chris Paul will be in a body bag by Christmas, and he's just not coming to play for a grinder like Thibs no older player is.

giving up the farm for Dame puts him in the same position he's in now.

There are players of all different levels of influence in the nba. And I'm not talking bout skill cause for the purpose of this argument you gotta be a superstar or at least a star. But even amongst the top two tiers of talented players there are only a handful of players that simply dominate a team. The court, the lockers, the beat writers, the local media, the front office. Lebron is one of them, I guess I gotta say KD is one of them. You can probably name only a couple more but CP3 is one of them.

Thibs don't tell CP3 to play defense, CP3 tells Thibs to run him a defensive play. He don't tell him to play harder, CP3 says everyone to play harder. He's self directed. And it's a damn good thing he's self directed in pretty much the exact things Thibs wants. But know this, Paul is the alpha. If he wants to rest he'll get a rest and if he needs to load management he'll load manage.

Randle would've got curse TF out this series and forced to rise to the occasion.

He's also one of those west coast guys. He's not coming to the Knicks. Why? We're certainly not on the cusp of making it to the ECF. We're not even close.

Idk but I just have a funny feeling that Chris Paul is the dark horse candidate. Besides what he can do on the court or cap. He can handle NY, he can truly make others better and hes got a great relationship with Leon Rose. Why else would he choose now to opt out? I think maybe there's more going on here. Might even convince Melo to come along for the vet min <wink> ha ha.

I think Lillard will be too costly. At nearly $39M and depleting us of RJ and an arsenal of picks, it'll be tough.

As far as CP3, I'd look to him only because he can literally orchestrate the offense. BUT.... if CP3's in the plans, I don't want D-Rose as the backup. I'd want CP3 to groom a rook or any young PG.

Is there a trade rumor thread yet? We might need one.

I look at cp3 and I see someone who not only influences the offense but the defense as well. Kind of like Payton Manning was for the Denver Broncos. The downside is that he cant play too many minutes.

You the one bringing up different teams when our situation is our situation and they’re more successful than us.

Dame would cost too much and I don't see him or Kawhi playing for Thibs.

Let's be honest, he got out coached in the series. We need to stay the course and continue to stay young. Mofos just need to step up their game in the playoffs. What gave me hope about this season was Quickley in the preseason.

I still don't understand why Quickley never was the consistent starter. Quickley was taking it to Trey, Dame and others, but Thibs stayed stubborn.

The culture Thibs has built is for the young players or the guys that want to be stars with a lot of work....not for the current stars. Julius worked his arse off and tried to lead by example of being the most fit. I just can't see Dame and Leonard going with that.

The more I think about it, the more I believe there's no way this will happen. We're going to have to get creative and go in another direction. I still like the idea of trying to trade for Brogdan with Rose coming off the bench. That way we can protect both players from injuries or being overworked.

RJ was more than capable of disappearing for stretches the entire regular season and the idea that Thibs made Julius Randle forget how to play basketball and look afraid of his own shadow is hilarious. It wasn't fatigue, it was a guy crumbling under pressure and reverting to the guy we all wanted traded until THIBS coached him to the best year of his career. There are valid criticisms of Thibs, this doesn't approach being one.

Alright, so if they aren't fatigued from Thibs dry humping them then they just suck. Either way we're ****.

RJ is a 20 year old kid and Julius is a microcosm of the entire team, hardworking but limited, predictable and easy to gameplan against. We're not necessarily screwed but there won't be any shortcuts.

Julius might get D’angelo Russell’d at the expense of acquiring Dame in a 3team deal then signing Kawhi.
