Press conference in 20 mins. Shep *and* Brooks.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

I see your point, but Beal gave a non-committal response to the same question about Brooks, Wes could have done the same if he didn't truly feel this way.

Re: The Wizards tenure of Scott Brooks
After watching the tough D that the 76ers played, even without Embiid, I would like to see the architect of a defense get a chance at being a head coach of the Wizards. That architect is Ime Udoka, and his pedigree includes Popovich and Nash. He would make for a fine choice as head coach to replace Brooks. He is currently the assistant coach with the Nets, and although the Nets dont play much D (with their big 3 on the offensive end, they dont really have to), he still has done a reasonably good job there. Prior to that, he was the assistant coach with the 76ers, and Spurs. As an assistant coach with the Spurs, he won a championship.

There are HCs in the league that matter and ones who don't. Ones who effect the out come of the game and those who either don't or worsen it. We need better .

Need to retain Brooks for when Durant is a free agent again. Second time is a charm.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Brooks needs to go ASAP

Incidentally, I really wouldn't mind scooping up Terry Stotts to replace Brooks.

Seems like a solid choice. While Stotts' playoff record may give some reason for pause, getting to the playoffs 8 years consecutively in the West is quite an accomplishment.

Not sure about Stotts. Defensive record isn’t good.
Am sure about this: even if the Wiz eventually promote Brooks to assistant urinal cake purchaser, they will have once again dithered away and gotten stuck with sloppy seconds

I fear that the delay is the Wizards negotiating the terms of Scott's next contract, if there are no rumors/leaks this week re: Wiz talking to HC candidates, I will take that as an ominous sign that we're doubling-down on Scotty.

Fired so far: Stotts, Clifford
Hot seat: Lue, Brooks, Walton, Silas

I’d take Clifford. His teams are always prepared and organized defensively, even when he was working with poor talent.

Too early. The season isnt over for a few other teams. I would want to interview some possible candidates on those teams that are still alive in the playoffs. To me, that means that Scotty is not the choice. Otherwise, we would have got the news that Scotty has signed a 1 year extension, or something like that.

…one more thing… right now, Scotty is out of contract. He is no longer the coach of the Wizards. There nobody to fire. Scotty doesn’t have the job. There is, however, someone to hire. Who that is remains to be seen.

Lots of talk about Jay Wright having a shot at the Boston job...
It’s either a Brooks extension or a hiring of a former NBA player again. My money is on Sam Cassell

The only way Brooks is retained is on a one-year deal. There won't be much need to negotiate because nobody else in the league wants him.
