The NBA Summer League is officially back.

After taking a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID-19, the NBA announced Wednesday the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2021 will take place August 8-17 in Las Vegas.

No other details were announced, but The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports all 30 teams will take part in the event that showcases rookies and other young players in one of the league’s most popular events.

NBA Summer League has traditionally been played at Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus.

This is the one place where the Celtics may actually win a championship.

His goal is to play in the NBA, so if he can be here I think he'll be playing here and not in Europe.

Israel didn't qualify for Olympics in 2016 for mens basketball, not sure if they did this time?

National teams whether they make the games or not(They did not) play a full slate to help the teams who did make it and get valuable experience

So would Israel keep its bright young prospect from gaining more valuable experience for the sake of filling out a practice squad? (I don't know, I'm asking.)

Probably not realistic, but I’m hoping Langford and Nesmith are both on this team, and NOT Carsen Edwards, so that they can both get a lot of touches.

If Tremont plays I hope he focuses on facilitating rather than scoring.

Wonder what Tacko’s status would be for this?

I think is pretty likely that Romeo and Nesmith go to summer league if they aren’t traded.

I think all our recent draftees will be playing if they're not traded and are in the picture for this coming season. The experience will be valuable especially considering the protocols over the past year plus. Langford and Nesmith have to be locks. Tacko should be there too or let him loose.

Telling that other than Tacko, whom I'd guess Brad would include only as a showcasing favor for him if he does include him, all the C's candidates for this are guards or wings. If the Yamster makes it and they want to feature Waters and Edwards, then even if Pritchard goes I'd be surprised to see him really playing much. Grant likely considered beyond it unless they want to go for more team/system continuity (or to give their new coach experience with the young players), since they'll be scrambling for bigs anyway.

I say why not put Moses Brown out there too? He's only 21 and only played 2 seasons in the league. Only played 9 games his first year and only 43 the 2nd year. Put him out there so the Celtics coaching staff can better understand what they have in him, what he can do, what he can't do. Plus it'll be good for him to get some reps in, keep him in shape and start getting used to playing with the team.

I figure anyone on the roster who was drafted 2019 or later...or anyone who went undrafted and is 23 or younger - put em all out there and see what they can do..

Yeah, I'd imagine they'd be eager to start working with Moses.

I never would have guessed Supercool Beas was an 11 year vet, that's crazy. And he's played fewer minutes than OJ Mayo, same draftclass, who coked his way out of the league like 5 and a half years ago. I wish I was going to Summer League this year, would be fun to watch Beasley school some 19 year olds. maybe I can go next year when some team inevitably brings back Roy Hibbert, who suddenly turns into a 3p specialist.
