You'll recall ... prosecutors say Beasley exploded on a family after they had been in his driveway -- alleging the 24-year-old NBA player pointed a gun at the people and ordered them to scram.

Beasley was initially hit with 2 charges over it all -- felony threats of violence and felony drug possession -- but he cut a deal with prosecutors months later to close out the case.

Beasley pled guilty to the threats charge ... and in exchange, the drug charge was dropped and Beasley was ultimately sentenced to 120 days in jail.

Initially, Beasley was set to begin the sentence on May 26 ... though a court official tells us it ended up being pushed to June 1.

Beasley posed for a mug shot when he was booked ... and you can see, he wasn't exactly thrilled to be behind bars.

Actions have consequences. 4 months of deprived of your freedom will be tough, but easier then what many people have it, since he will come out as a millionaire in the fall.

Yep, it was a colossal fail on his part and he's paying for it. Thankfully things weren't worse. I hope he can learn from this and come out much better on the other side.

But he looked like straight trash after his suspension and that was just a month.

Wouldn't he be at risk of extortion, since everyone knows he's loaded? I know he shouldn't get preferential treatment, but at the same time he has so much more to lose.

I know this is selfish with a young man going to jail, but when I saw the mug shot, I thought, “looks a little out of shape.”

Btw, why is he going to Wright County?

Probably a type of jail and capacity issue if I had to guess, but wondered that too.

I'm not worried about him being out of shape. We repeatedly heard that he was in the best shape out of every player on the team when the season started and I think his shooting numbers correlate with that, he was able to get shots up every night and rarely looked winded.

Once a lot of players get their big deal they kind of relax, he seems to have turned it up. Here's to hoping he continues to do so,
