I don't know why you're feeling that strong about this topic. We're not saying Giannis is trash or anything. We're comparing Giannis to Giannis in here. If there's a certain drop in offensive production and impact, it's natural to voice concerns about the situation.
I mentioned David Robinson because he had a very similar trajectory in his peak seasons.
If a player is goat level regular season force but not quite the postseason force, there's probably some things to talk about.
I agree he's an MVP level player and should have very high standards and he absolutely deserves some criticism. I've been critical of him too. But read some of the specific posts and tell me they are actual legitimate critiques and not just lazy hot takes based on a twitter narrative groupthink. You can't. And that's where my problem lies.
And we did the same thing a week ago with Kawhi where it was all this psychoanalysis bulls **** with people reading all kinds of things into him because he's quiet or he left one team for another or whatever. Meanwhile on the court he's just straight wrecking the Mavericks.
We do this all the time and more people need to stop and make sure we should be. Maybe we should be with Giannis. 70's certainly thinks he's primarily to blame because of his halfcourt scoring failings. And I'm not saying he's wrong. But I am saying let's make sure its the full story before we run with as we have here.
Carry on. Didn't mean to derail this thread on my soapbox.

Edit: and now look at the KD conversation going on after this..... This is what is so incredibly frustrating to me. /rant for good this time.
I think your sense of danger with all this is well-placed, and I'll admit to not setting the best example.
I'll tell you what I think is really key for me:
Keep reflecting after the fact and try to recognize and call the BS on your past "prisoner of the moment" self.
Try to avoid falling too deep into hot takes when the "oven" is on to be sure, but as fans, the emotions are part of the experience and those emotions are going to lead you astray at times.
Of course, as I say all of this, where I'm at my worst is when people still talk with the same sense of definitive rightness long after the fact after rebuttals have been well-established. In other words, those who have their opinions solidified with the emotional moment of the hot take ("annealed" to draw analogy to metallurgy) are the ones who trigger my emotions most problematically.
