Re: Center Options
we don't know how James Borrego would play a competent center because he's basically never had one

Re: Center Options
I had no idea Nurkic is repped by Rich Paul/Klutch. I'd like to avoid their clients as much as possible because we already have Miles and he's likely going to get paid when the time comes. Having 2 or more Klutch boys would be costly for this team.

Re: Center Options
I'd be over the moon if we found a way to get Nurkic.
Nurkic/Turner/Noel are my top 3 if you asked me today. We shall see how the market develops. C'mon Mitch, our C spot is a big hole that needs filling. Don't let us down

Re: Center Options
Noel would be nice as a starter. Honestly not sure what to think of Nurkic. Want nothing to do with Drummond for myriad reasons. A wild card is if the Mavs don't pick up the team option on WCS. I know no one is going to jump for joy if he were in teal, but he's fast/mobile, can guard out to the line, pass and handle bit, and boards at decent rate (by reb%). Think he'd be a good fit in some rotational shape or form. Dieng has been mentioned as well - like him as a backup.

Nice in-depth takes. I would definitely prefer a trade option (I'd easily take Bamba or Bryant over any UFA) but hard to get my head around these more blue-sky scenarios. Of the gettable guys, Holmes scares me a bit (for the reasons the author mentions) but it makes perfect sense that we would chase him - fills needs. Noel still feels realistic. Hope Kupchak surprises with a trade, but my breath? It is not being held.

Re: Center Options
I think it's going to be tricky to for the Hornets to make a good trade without Cody's salary to make things work.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Thanks for plugging my articles above, glad you all enjoyed them.
I completely agree about the challenge making trades due to the current salary structure on the roster. I really hope the team somehow find some fair value mid sized contract this off-season to give the team more trade flexibility going forward. If the team do address the center position via the trade market I would guess it comes after an initial move, I think the team will be cautious to move PJ/Miles/Terry who are the key assets for other teams at the moment.

Exactly what I noticed when I went exploring the old trade machine.

Thanks for the articles and analysis. I generally agree with your perspectives. We need an impact center, however we get him. Size, length, defense, shot blocking, good finisher at the rim, high motor athlete, that’s what we need. Having a little midrange jumper would be icing.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Center Options
A Graham sign and trade with their choice of PJ or the 11th pick. If they ask for more than that hang up.

Re: Center Options
Why the Wolves?
They stayed clear of Wiseman in the draft because of the positional conflict with KAT.
The same exists with Turner.

I didn’t get that either but it’d be funny if DLo got traded.

Re: Center Options
I don't hate Turner, but trading the 11th pick for him would be pretty disappointing. Mainly because it would take away our pick and a portion of our cap space.
I would rather just sign a guy using cap space and then use the pick on an extra rotation player.

so you're saying you would be disappointed if we traded the 11th pick and the opportunity to sign Montrezl Harrell, Nerlens Noel, or (if we're lucky) Richaun Holmes for Myles Turner?

I wouldn’t be upset, but I feel like we can fix the C problem without giving up valuable assets.
