Having a non shooting point guard, an inconsistent 2 in Bullock, and a 5 that doesn’t shoot outside the paint does hurt a team. If we had C.A.T, Ball, and Norman Powell or Fournier than we can spread the floor more evenly with more consistent shooter to help relieve pressure.

We desperately need a starting PG who won't kill our offense, but I won't be disappointed if Mitch & Bullock are starting again next season and we wait until next summer to make our big move for another shot-creator...with a Mitch upgrade coming once we've addressed the fist two, if we still have the ammo & can get one.

Bullock was our best perimeter defender all season & a big part of that defense, who was often helping organize our younger defenders through the campaign; while Robinson was someone we sorely missed. Even though we didn't run anything for him, having that center who can catch a pass/rebound & reliably give us some garbage points, was an outlet that really helped us keep things rolling in the earlier parts of the season...not to mention the upgrade to our PNR defense & rebounding as opposed to Nerlens.

In a perfect world, we would replace Mitch with AD, Bullock with Harden, and Elfrid with Jrue...as well as turning RJ into Kawhi & Julius into Zion or Luka...but addressing the Elf-upgrade is more important than either of the first two, and the second is more important than the first. So let's deal with those upgrades by order of importance unless we're getting a real superstar that can win a ring as your #1 option.

That doesn't put us in the top 3, and the gap between the Sixers / Bucks / Nets group and the rest of the East is pretty big. You're not gonna be better than the Bucks with a player who plays the same position as Giannis but is worse, and guards who Holiday can defend. And you're also forgetting that the Pacers, Hornets, Bulls and Raptors are in the lottery, any of those teams winning the lottery or ending up in the top 5 of it is bad news for us.

Pairing anyone with Randle is a losing idea, he's not a 2, and he's on track to be paid like a 1. It's like Magic fans who were hoping they could pair someone with Vucevic.

Im not sure that people realize how top heavy the east is. Barring injury or extreme improvements the best we can hope for with everything going right is top 4

We're seeing the difference between a superstar and what Randle is with how Embiid has the Hawks looking completely helpless to guard him.

People also disregard teams like the Hornets for some reason, they have more talent than us to begin with and they're adding more. They get even a halfway decent center and they could pass us up too.

True shooting percentage this past regular season:

Sixers: Embiid 63.6%, Simmons 58.4%, Harris 59.7%
Nets. Durant 66.6% (think it's a coincidence if you want to), Harden 61.9%, Irving 61.4%
Bucks: Antetokounmpo 63.3%, Holiday 59.2%, Middleton 58.8%
Hawks: Young 58.9%, Bogdanovic 61.6%

ALL above league average (57.2%) in scoring efficiency. ALL of them.

Now look at the Knicks:
Randle 56.7% BELOW AVERAGE
Barrett 53.5% BELOW AVERAGE
Rose 56.5% BELOW AVERAGE

This is very sad and very concerning. Just don't be surprised when the Knicks miss the playoffs next year. We do not have the foundation to compete with any of these teams, let alone when the Knicks regress to the mean.

We need more efficient scorers.

The Knicks should either cash in their assets and make a bunch of win-now moves and build around Dame or whomever, or rebuild through the draft.

If they keep building around these inefficient scorers (PS: Melo wasn't inefficient his first 3.5 years in NY, helloo Realgm), the Knicks will be stuck in no man's land.

Leon Rose and the FO need to pick a direction this summer. These fringe roster moves (eg Lonzo Ball) are not gonna cut it. Just commit to one strategy 100%. Either tank or go for the chip (lol).

I think the Warriors are a logical trade partner, potentially.

Yeah, absolutely.

As I keep saying, low expectations are the biggest enemy of this franchise.

A cute playoff appearance was all they needed to settle for mediocrity. According to some, we should be thankful.

That's messed up.

I want oubre

Lonzo Ball!!
give rose 3 year deal

guys, we have an opportunity to vastly improve the team with FAs or trades. we need to seize the opportunity now before we have to resign randle and rj.

Right. Either that or tank for Chet by building around RJ, IQ, Obi and whomever we draft this summer.

I'm fine with keeping Bullock because he helps you play modern basketball without taking touches away from anybody, and he's not a floor raiser with his skill set anyway.

yup.

we need to shoot our shot.

from a purely theoretical perspective, if we could add

a starting SG like Beal who contributes 25ppg/5asts at efficiency
or
a starting PG like Lillard who adds 30ppg/5asts at efficiency

do people realize how much value that adds to our offense? Our biggest area of non production is at PG/SF. Being able to slide RJ to SF and replace Bullock's production while adding Beal's 25ppg nets this team a crap ton more wins than starting RJ + Bullock. Same principle applies with Lillard.

we need to trade the farm and shoot our shot.

Fournier is another guy who would add tremendous value to the lineup because the synergy works of being able to slide RJ to SF.
Lowry is another guy who would add tremendous value to the lineup.

trade all the picks for Beal or Lillard.

oh and the biggest joke of this forum is reading people that think Lonzo Ball fits this team.

what the actual ****? are you guys stupid?

we need a PNR pg who can create his own three and dribble drive off the PNR

Lonzo cant do any of that ****!!!!! Did anyone watch the playoff series vs ATL? Trae killed us in the pnr and we were stuck dumping the ball to Randle in the wing for iso. We need dudes who are going to create or make easier shots for our teammates while initiating our offense.

If GSW made us a crazy offer and we could turn Randle+Robinson+#21/Quickley into Wiseman+#6+#14 before heading into a full rebuild, I would be losing my s*** alongside everyone else. But I don't agree that rebuild or all-in are the only options if this FO is up to the task.

With our market, we can become one of those teams that one of these younger superstars would want to be traded to once they're ready for a change...especially if we could build a 2nd/3rd tier playoff team with Barrett-to-Randle aged pieces and could do so without burning too much of our ammo, or locking ourselves into untradeable contracts.

Which is not an easy task, not by any stretch of the imagination, but neither is rebuilding through the draft. It's hard enough to secure a top 5 pick, much less one who ends up a perennial top 5 (or even top 10) player...and then building a sufficient team around them.

No matter which path they follow, it will require shrewd maneuvering and quality talent recognition from the FO...to go with a healthy dose of luck...if they're to add another championship banner.

lol, never know with young bigs that look ditsy as rooks, but you get my point.

If that crazy, jumpstart a rebuild offer was out there, I'd be game. But if it isn't, I don't think we have to go all in. Not without first taking our time to see if we can't add a Lavine/Sexton & a Lonzo/Brogdon...or whoever...to try and position ourselves like the pre-Kawhi-Raptors for whenever the Bookers & Zions start looking to greener pastures.

With our market we can become one of those teams that one of these younger superstars would want to be traded to once they're ready for a change...especially if we could build a 2nd tier playoff team with Barrett-to-Randle aged pieces and could do so without burning too much of our ammo or locking ourselves into untradeable contracts.

Wiseman and quality talent recognition are not reconcilable

lol, never know with young bigs that look ditsy as rooks, but you get my point.

Zion is our most obvious pathway to a championship with his friend RJ already on the team.

I think that's the most important window of opportunity to prepare for as far as our future is concerned.

Probably, but preparing for that could entail making us look more appealing as a destination & pumping up the value of our trade pieces, just as much as it could mean accumulating young pieces, futures & capspace.

There are 3 ways to acquire a title-caliber superstar/#1-option like that (draft, FA & trade) and all 3 have their difficulties / require some luck along the way.

Whichever they go with, we're going to have to hope our FO is up to the task *fingers-crossed*

Randle 56.7% can improve with less shots. All goes hand in hand. Knicks need more talent.

Yes.

But then again he won't come so it'll all have been for nothing.

what the actual ****? are you guys stupid?

we need a PNR pg who can create his own three and dribble drive off the PNR

Lonzo cant do any of that ****!!!!! Did anyone watch the playoff series vs ATL? Trae killed us in the pnr and we were stuck dumping the ball to Randle in the wing for iso. We need dudes who are going to create or make easier shots for our teammates while initiating our offense.
