Signed me up for a Giddey or Barnes with the 2nd pick

Drafting Mobley means we are tanking the next 2 drafts. Isaac and Fultz won't be 100% until next March, the rest of the young guys will take time too. The only way the timeliness excellerates is if we take Cummingham or Suggs in my opinion.

Taking Mobley makes sense if its a longer rebuild, gives the FO a chance to make a decision on Fultz, Cole, and RJ, and also confirms WCJ and/or Bamba are back ups.

Thats ummm a surprising hot take.

That’s an awful hot take. Kuminga is 18 and widely considered a top 5 pick.
Kuminga: Oct 6
Giddey: Oct 10
Both are 18, Giddey is 4 days younger... What in the actual eff

I know.. I was being polite. BUT you have to admit, He didn't lie when he said Giddey was younger than Kuminga LOL

Yeah I’m not sure this is actually a thing, or at least not in the manner you’re probably imagining. What’s a euro play style like compared to other regions? How’s a player from a euro league so different to someone from the NBL, or CBL, or whatever?

Alright to be clear.. The non-athletic (joke really) but skilled dude from Europe like Luka and Jokic that I meant was/is like Ludwig from Loyola. If you watched the NCAA games of Ludwig, he (for me anway) was like Joker in that the team gave him the ball wherever he wanted and he made the plays. He either shot them from 3/perimeter 2, dribbled and went to work down-low or passed. Kinda of like Joker no?

Now I admit I havent seen that much full games from Sengun and Giddy so I will take your word for it IF you say those two * Sengun and Giddy) did the same as Ludwig. Especially the shooting, dribbling down low and making the plays. And to be clear, Ludwig is as far from athletic as you can get.

I found the rankings odd, so I looked up their mock (which has Orlando taking Mobley and Moody; something I would be thrilled with). And it is clear the to lists are not congruent. Indeed they are wildly different after the top-5.

They should worry you - because they’re terrible comparisons. Neither has comparable skills to Giddey.

I’d say Satoransky is probably the floor/bust limit on Giddey. But I also wouldn’t give him a ceiling much higher than Lonzo with a better half court game, maybe a shorter Hedo. So not a star per se but a great glue guy.

i dont view someone "like" Satoransky even close to worth the #8 pick. Satoransky looks like a typical bench guy. We still need stars. give me a player with a high ceiling, even if his floor is lower

It's a stylistic comparison. It doesn't mean they will be similarly effectual. I watched a video a couple days ago where someone comped Giddey with Greivis Vasquez, which I think is quite appropriate. Giddey is bigger though, and he is a full year younger than was Vasquez when Vasquez was starting his collegiate career. He's so far ahead of where Vasquez was at the same age and that matters a lot.

I don't think upside is the concern with Giddey. His on-court intelligence is exceptional and he has good size. I think his upside is quite high. He's just so young that we don't know how he is going to develop. He looks so physically weak at this point that it impacts everything he does. He needs to get stronger, especially his legs. The technical skills should come along. He'll always be limited by his athleticism to some extent, but he has the size to overcome that if he can just get stronger. I'd be perfectly happy if we end up with Giddey.

Maybe in the second round... Between the highlights, he is pretty awful.

He's already 20 and he isn't very good at the collegiate level. He has low block and rebound rates for a big. His turnover rate is monstrous considering his usage and assist rates. This is somewhat forgivable as he picked up the sport late, but he is so far behind the curve on development that I don't think he has much of a chance of becoming a productive player in the NBA.

Also when comparing Giddey to Doncic and what they've done internationally. Giddey is the age that Doncic was when he averaged 7.8 pts per game. Not his final season when he won the MVP at 19.

The point is Giddey is better right now, and you can't say, well Kuminga is younger.

No. the point is you don’t know what you’re talking about. Their age doesn’t matter... they’re 4 days apart and they both play in different leagues none of which is the NBA. So until that happens we don’t who is better. We do know that Giddey isn’t consider a top 5 pick currently.

Roko Prkacin would be the perfect draft and stash guy. He won't be 19 until November. So maybe he's the youngest player in the draft.

Draftnet has him going 30.

Please don’t try to make that comp, or balance it out with handicaps. Luka is exceptional, and expecting anyone to come close to matching him is unrealistic. Giddey has some great skill and potential but it’s not in the same stratosphere as Luka.

Giddey is as similar to Doncic as Chris Paul is to Boban Marijanovic

In second best basketball league in the world, where best players make couple of million dollars per year.
Giddey plays in australia, where best player in whole league are Vic Law and Bryce Cotton, two undrafted nba players.

This is ridicilous statement, even by you.
Also , born in February of 1999, Luka played most of the season you are refering - as 17 years old , in 2016-17.
Hence, 2 years later, as rookie, he was listed as "19 years old".

Also Dončić played with efficiency in a league were young players rarely get any in-game minutes.
It was very clear that Dončić would excel in the NBA. Nobody is "certain" that either Kuminga or Giddey will emerge as starting quality. Both seem certain to make-the-league, but can we be sure that either will be more than a 8th man in the NBA for a 5-year career? I cannot be.
