I'm not sure what the list above shows other than the fact that some former players are good coaches, and some are lousy. Some coaches with no NBA playing experience are good and others are lousy. Front page news!

But Larry Brown was a great player in the ABA. To call him a scrub offended me. While it existed, the ABA was more entertaining than the NBA and had players who were just as good, including Dr. J, Rick Barry, Connie Hawkins, Artis Gilmore, Maurice Lucas, Moses Malone, George Gervin... the list goes on.

The fact that Boston is taking it's time gives me hope that they are waiting for Billups to really get a good interview from Boston. Can't move ahead due to the playoffs. Not saying this is true, but it is my hope.

I think Stevens already has a short list in his head. I mean, he coached in the league for 8 years, has participated in coaching clinics, helped with the national team and all of that. Most of the interviews will be for show. He knows what he wants; the question is, can he get it?

I think Bobby Marks had it right on Forsberg's podcast. He said the trend now is to bring in lots of people, but especially assistants, to essentially gain knowledge of the thinking of the other teams and their coaches, more than to actually be interviewing everyone with equal consideration for the position. That makes sense to me and seems to fit with Brad's way of operating.

Another reason no one mentioned in favor of Billups is the way he can help Nesmith reach his potential for us. Billups long time championship teammate was Richard Hamilton. "Rip" was mainly used as a move without the ball, come off screen shooter. That is a Nesmith strong point.

Billups is way above all the other choices by a good chuck.

You're not wrong playa. Rip made a living coming off screen and he was skinny as a rail next to Nesmith. From what we've seen Aaron has the energy and stamina to run off screens and elevate all game long. That's real good for us and definitely not fun for the other team defense.

You got me already imagining Chauncy on the sidelines. Question, does he wear a tie or casual? Say tie like Doc and I'm in. Gotta have the tie on. Hate this casual trend. Might have gone a bit too far.

Celtics are traditionally tight lipped. They don't need to drum up interest in their franchise. Portland and Orlando needs the attention. And obviously that's just speculation.

Brad Stevens is busy personally hand writing Jay Larranga’s offer letter. No Billups for you.

They can take however long they want as long as they get the coach they want.

If they didn’t, that would be a bad sign. But I’m happy to see Kidd and Pringles interviewing elsewhere, and not (apparently or yet) here.

Is anyone else concerned that it's been announced that Billups will be interviewing with Portland and crickets in Boston?

Lots of talk about Billups to Portland. If he's off the market I really hope we can land Cassell

This might set some people off, but there’s always the possibility that someone like Chauncey may not like the Celtics, the idea of coaching with Stevens as their GM, and/or the city of Boston. It did my ego good to hear Woj right away report that our coaching job would be highly prized, but that doesn’t mean by every single potential candidate.
