Let's focus on the Clippers for a minute.
When playing a team like Philly, Utah, or Milwaukee, we know we can give space to guys like Simmons, Gobert, or Giannis, with regards to letting them shoot any time they want.
If we get the Clips, I'm struggling to see an advantage we could exploit. Beverly is one but is he a starter?
PG goes off on us from 3 so we have to make sure someone never leaves his sight.
Leonard can do a bit of everything.
How would you guard this team?

This rest really is good for Paul. He hurt it maybe 3 weeks ago? If it took Lowry about a month to recover from the same thing, this extra week should really get it right.

Now, if we win the title this season, while I don't think Paul leaves, you can talk about your options.
But, more likely, he'll re-sign for the 3 years (total) and ride this out to see if he can nab another title or 2. He knows he may never find another group of players like this who he seems to get along great with (along with competing at least)
If we win it all this year, 100% CP3 stays. We become the top FA destination in the league. Phoenix is ALREADY an attractive spot to most NBA free agents, then you add defending champs to that resume? We'll be replacing Kaminsky and Galloway with Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose.
Javale McGee perhaps to replace Frank K for the veteran minimum
What is with the fascination everyone has for JaVale McGee?

No, Reggie Jackson starts. The last 3 games, Beverley has been the bench guy and Rondo with DNPs...but up until game 2 Beverley was getting DNPs and Rondo coming off the bench, sometimes playing more than Jackson.
Rondo plays a lot better in the playoffs than regular season too.
Now I don't know if Rondo got hurt or what. In some of the games earlier against Dallas, all 3 played. But since Utah has size at everywhere except PG, maybe that's why they only play one at a time right now.

Punish them with Ayton too. There's no size on that team. If it gets bad enough, they'll have to double him and open things up for 1 of our shooters.
His defense has helped get us here, but now it's time for Ayton to earn his self given nick-name on the other side of the ball.

It depends on who they start. This last game they ran Morris, Batum, Leonard, George, and Jackson. I would match Ayton, Booker, Crowder, Bridges, Paul respectfully. And then feed Ayton until they bring in Zubac. It will be tough either way, and we will have to play great defense.

Outside of Kawhi who's just plain frightening to face in a playoff series the biggest concern with playing LA is their 3pt shooting. They led the league in 3pt %. They are the type of team where you can play them well but if they have a hot night and shoot 50% from 3 you can still lose regardless.

Yep, no doubling, and close out shooters. Fight over every screen, and make their moving screens obvious.

McGee is a legit anchor. If you have him as a bench enforcer, that's a premium.
12-14 minutes of a high motor McGee is a legit threat against most bench units, a plug and play sort of C....if you have 4 other shooters (which we do) and easy lobs for CP3 against bench defenses.

McGee is a fine minimum option. Nothing more than that. He's a solid contributor in limited minutes and has championship experience. But you want him as a luxury player, not someone you need to rely on for big minutes in crucial moments. I also like him as someone for Ayton to go against in practice. I think having someone for Ayton to bang with daily is really important to his development.

WCF might be harder than the actual finals.
Rest up and film time the Clippers like crazy. They're peaking at the right time.
Ayton is averaging 15/10.5 rebounds a game. We'll need 22-24/12 from him to win against the Clips IMO. We could get by with 15/10 against the Jazz (with excellent defense) but not the Clippers.
I wonder if this will be the difference between a max contract and a slightly under the max, Clippers and Utah.

Plus, we were fortunate that Ayton was healthy this season. If he missed a few weeks, without a backup big like McGee, we'd be in trouble. Next season is a great opportunity to fix that.
Unless we're adamant about having a big who can shoot.

I was just thinking that a Clips series for Ayton could solidify that max deal (and his ranking among top bigs). He crushes them and he'll get his max deal this summer. No doubt.

Yup. These are the reason why we are "fascinated" with him... Nobody is saying he is a lot better than Frank, but he is a better fit. Thats about it. If it's not clear by now, it's not worth arguing about.

I think part of the fascination with McGee is how he pairs with Paul as a lob target and offensive rebounder. He's a guy whose physical tools greatly exceeds his historic impact because of character/IQ issues - and those are precisely the sorts of flaws we're set to deal with given the identity and ethic we've built as a team.

I guess the nuggets media / fans need to hold onto something, No matter how idiotic and sad after being eliminated. They'd be much better served focusing on their salary obligations (extensions) and critical roster changes that will need to be considered if they plan to contend further in the future, Rather than Jokics' brothers getting inflamed over something that Jokic himself initiated and admittedly felt apologetic for. Rules are in place for a reason! And should not be selective or situational in nature. Perhaps Jokic and his brothers can have a deep conversation regarding this whilst fishing?

They do have Zubac, but yes, we should go inside to Ayton as much as we can. They have Cousins too, but he doesn't usually play and I'm not worried about him anyway.
