Some additional data points to consider for those inclined to include all our young guys to land the next shiny object.

IQ's a special talent.

He's a pure shooter. Pure shooters are hard to find. Not sure why I keep seeing him in packages on this thread. Would hate to see him grab the 50-40-90 on another team.

can he finish at the rim?

can he make plays off the pnr?

idk...

maybe hes destined to be a Lou Williams type player.

Yes and yes. He's not Lou Williams (although Lou Williams has had a pretty successful career). Quick doesn't need to pound the ball to be effective. He effective as much spotted up as he is off the dribble.

I think IQ is going to be a Knick we all love for a long time. I hope the FO sees it that way - I have a feeling he is one of our hottest commodities for any potential trades...

All I know is that Dwight Howard was signed for just the $2.5 million vet minimum. So you definitely don't have to spend a lot of money for a quality backup C. So yeah I would also not spend money to retain Noel. His lack of offensive skills and inability to physically matchup against most centers just can't be made up by his willingness to and energy on the defensive end.

If we trade cap for Kemba+pick and sign Drummond to be back up center that's a fine plan to me. Noel had a pretty good year, but probably the most he would get is MLE. I also think we are all a little skewed remembering him from the playoffs. A healthy Noel >>> One ankled Noel from the playoffs. Hindsight it might have been better for all parties if we had not played him at all in the playoffs after the injury.

Drummond isn't signing anywhere as a backup. Wouldn't mind Mitch and Noel both here but not interested in paying them both so we may need to move one this season or not bring Noel back.

Very good news.

if there isn’t anything to tamper with or any FA UFA RFA tampering super team to be created,

We need to offer 4/64 to Fournier or 4/max to Powell the moment FA Opens.

Lowry
Powell/Fournier
Rj
Randle
Mitch

4/80 to Powell or 4/65 to Fournier
3/60 to Lowry
2/20 to ibaka

If one takes a floater before getting to the rim and does so at a high rate are they not in effect finishing at the rim? He drives into the paint and good things happen. Idk if that in and of itself is indicative of one being a good PG.

Now the second point yes, it's absolutely necessary for a PG to create out of the pick and roll and for sure he needs work but alot of rookie PGs need work and it's not anywhere near a downside of his. If you look at most of Obis dunks it's off something IQ is doing. For a short time we thought he activated Knox. Quickley can pass, but the more you keep saying Lou Williams the more you get stuck using him as you do Lou Williams, and he can play that role too so it's basically like typecasting him in a role. I think you gotta force the issue with giving him the ball and requiring him to orchestrate as opposed to playmake. I remember Nate Robinson one yr coming to SL and this was past the rookie/sopmore yrs where it's mandatory. I remembered him saying that he knowshe can score but he wanted to work specifically on facilitating and wanted the team to see him that way. In the end we know Nate never truly became a PG but it did help him and I respected his commitment at the time. They hey, Thibs had him on the Bulls and he had that great season even going into the playoffs. Somehow that was his last stop.

But anyway, I'd focus on that this summer if I'm Quickley.

You would have to throw in a FRP. I am a bad contract.

No.

We already have Elfrid Payton, why bring in the supersized version of him.

Who is good enough for the Knicks to.bring in? Every player available will have some sort of flaw.

Yeah but we can buy low, we can actually turn around and trade Ben for a better player. He almost got traded for Harden

Basically mentions like 20 times that he was in NY prior to this being recorded.

With Stan being fired, and the duality between Julius Randles career path & his, I think conspiracy theory chances are high he ends up a Knick in the off season.

Return to New York Knicks
