I miss that guy dearly and I wish he was still here. I wish he was going into the hall as a Clipper. I'm not sure he's going to do that. I'm not sure he would attend a ceremony where we retired his jersey.
Suns are a very talented and deep team, the kind of team the Lob City rosters needed.
I think a lot of people focused on what those team didn't do vs actually being impressed with what they DID do with the many limitations the rosters had. Of course injuries were part of the story too, but I mentioned it every season even if people didn't want to believe it. The team had a defense, depth and size problem, and it meant that when the playoffs rolled around, things just became tougher for them.
I actually liked Mbah too. If they had a guy like 16-17 Mbah who was knocking down corner three's in addition to his good straight line drive ability in 2014 and 2015, it actually would have helped a lot defensively and with depth as he could guard 1-4, 5 in spurts and he played as a 3/4.
I liked Redick, but we all know his limitations on both ends. He tried on defense, but he was still tiny and couldn't be used as a real defensive option. CP3 had to guard all his counterpart PG's most of the game while they rested on Barnes on defense as their SG or SF guarded Paul.
Offensively Redick spaced, shot, efficient, but he could not be used as a secondary playmaker. People talk about how it's too hard for Lillard with him and CJ in the backcourt, but Redick has the same size and defensive limitations as CJ without the offensive ability.
Even DA vs DJ. Ayton has improved so much on defense, and offensively is much better than DJ.
Definitely one of the benefits of longevity and still being good when older is that you can end up getting to a better scenario. Of course a player would prefer that in their prime, but life isn't particularly fair.
