Giannis is Quickly Building a Reputation as a Choke-Artist

Post#1 » by Castle Black » Wed Jun 16, 2021 3:05 am

Third year in a row it’s the same exact script. Guy just continues to collapse late in playoff games. Great regular season player, no doubt. Even played really well tonight for 3 quarters and deserves credit for that.

And, I’ll be the first to say it’s not all his fault because his HC isn’t doing him any favors with his awful coaching down the stretch of games like tonight (that was brutal).

But still, he chokes late in games far too often and he’s way too easy to guard down the stretch because of his inability to shoot the basketball. 3 years in a row now. Sucks for the Bucks.

They should trade him to the Nets for Jeff Green and a couple of protected first round picks. Blake Griffin could use a backup.

Giannis is basically KD without any of the skill or BBIQ

Just gotta work on his shooting. I don't know why it hasn't improved. I guess it's the same reason Westbrook's hasn't ever improved. What reason that is I don't know.

Giannis needs to be a second option. He could be the best #2 in the league, but he's too limited offensively to be the go to guy late in games.

Some players just aren’t natrual shooters. No matter how much they try

His ceiling is Kevin Garnett. Which is still great, but not great enough to be a #1 on a championship team.

Building? At this point he is solidifying that reputation. How many excuses can one player get? Now he’s going to get another coach fired. Bud will be great wherever he goes.

I'm not on the bash Giannis train tonight. He had a good game. You can tell he doesn't have the maniacal confidence that some all time greats have but it's OK. He's human, he made a mistake. I want to see how he responds at home.

And Bud really needs to play Giannis in the post. His length alone makes it difficult. Have Lopez stretch the floor where is he more comfortable..

He would be the perfect #2 guy next to Anthony Edwards

It's clear that's not his only issue. Having a decent set shot wouldn't change the fact that he has not a single go to move. It's almost painful to watch him try to generate offense at the end of a game.

That fumble at the end was brutal, Middleton set him up perfectly. And on the play before that, he took an ill-advised fadeaway instead of taking Harden to the rim.

Giannis is just too limited offensively to be relied on in the clutch. His movements are too stiff and rigid. He needs to be a #2 guy who can focus on defense and getting easy baskets instead of being a creator.

Amazing that someone who recorded 34 points on 22 shots, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists could look as bad as he did this game. Probably didn't help that Durant was doing everything that Giannis couldn't.

He had 34/12/4/1/2 on 64% FG...

He isn't necessarily the problem.

Don't disrespect KG. He would've KILLED to have Giannis' teammates. He also would've guarded KD and not hide like Giannis did.

He is what he is. I agree that he should not be a primary go-to guy because his shooting is just not good enough, but the guy is getting absolutely abused on this forum after a 34 pt, 12 reb, 4 ast, 2 blk game on 22 shots. He is a great great player with one major flaw, and that major flaw is all people ever talk about seemingly.

Giannis just delivered a monster performance in this game, he just fell victim to one of the greatest individual performances we’ve ever seen from Durant. Trashing Giannis after this game just takes away from KD accomplished, and it’s not really fair.
