Yeah this is about where I'm at. I said a long time ago I didn't know how interested I'd be in the playoffs, but not for this reason

We've got the Hawks with an injured Hunter.

Sixers with an injured Embiid.

Nets with an injured Irving and still injured but playing Harden.

A Bucks team that can't function on offense well enough to beat said team.

Clippers without Kawhi.

Suns without CP3.

Jazz without Conley.

Like, man what is this.

We've had so many injuries that the Bucks losing their starting SG at the start of the playoffs doesn't even register.

It's really sad that you're exactly right and I entirely forgot.

Genuinely bummed, was hoping for a fun postseason but this is just a big downer.

The CP3 thing doesn't seem that bad to me. I can't see him missing more than 1 game tops specially if these Jazz Clips series goes 7. Kawhi is prolly done for the season.

Suns are just the team of destiny and everything is going right for Cp3 in the playoffs for once even survived.his annual injury scare. Ad hurt, Bron hobbled, Murray Dozier out Barton returned last minute, now Kawhi and I think Rondo might be dealing with something too

The Nets shouldn't even count. Unlike every other team, they're stacked enough to withstand these injuries.

They do count because they would have won a championship had Harden and Kyrie not gotten injured.

They are almost certainly cakewalking to an easy ring now.

No they aren't. It took a legendary performance by Durant to beat Milwaukee in a single game.

The best two teams in the West will have their rosters likely healthy for the finals as well (Phoenix and Utah).

The Bucks are pretenders. We all knew as soon as Harden was announced to play that the Bucks were probably going to find a way to choke, and they did. Someone literally called it well in advance in this thread.

CP3 is out indefinitely with COVID, and unfortunately (as we've already seen this season with Jayson Tatum) there can sometimes be lingering effects even after a player comes back from it.

Conley's injury is clearly worse than the Jazz are letting on at this point - I thought for sure he'd be back for Game 5 - and Mitchell is playing on an injured ankle.

Is today the most eventful NBA day in the history of the league when the season is still going on (not counting the off-season):
CP3 has covid
Leonard has a torn ACL?
NOLA coach fired
Mavericks GM fired
Conley has a setback of his injury

Did I miss something here?

Clyde Frazier wrote:Slow news day eh?

The bucks' late game execution was just embarrassing last night. That baseline turnaround Giannis took on Harden was inexcusable. You now have a guy who's seemingly afraid of contact at the end of games because of his poor FT shooting. Looking at his playoff history, FT struggles aren't new, but he was at least "ok" in the 2018 and 2019 playoffs (65% on 10.1 attempts per game). Then you look at his regular season #s, and he was respectable for the majority of his career! From 2015 to 2019 he shot 74.6% on 6.9 attempts per game. The last 2 years he's way down. What happened to him?

This lack of aggression by Giannis has made the offense even more stagnant and a roster which looked to be a perfect fit looks disjointed right now. I'm not trying to put it all on him but just a really poor showing going up against such a beat up team in the nets. If they lose I'd probably move on from bud too. Series ain't over tho.

Heard it on a pod recently, I think it was with Seerat Sohi, but she saw a direct correlation of Giannis’ FT % go down as he started shooting more threes. It seems like him trying to improve his shot from range destroyed his progress at the line.

I do remember he said something similar before the season started and the GB jumped all over it calling him selfish, and old, and whatever, I did read the article about the number of injuries being the same as any other normal season but I'd bet money that we are definitely seeing more stars down than usual

As for all that’s going on in the league, it’s a lot to take in, feels like the off-season already.

I fear Kawhi has a partially torn ACL and is done for the season, may very well lead into next season as well. I was chalking game 5 to Utah regardless because they found a bit of their mojo at the tail end of game 4, and their HCA should allow them to win by a decent margin.

Clippers are done if Kawhi is out for the season. As good as PG has played recently, the remaining teams are just too good to beat 4 out of 7 times.

Watching Giannis’ skills atrophy before our eyes, I have to blame this on Bud, he needs to be fired even if they win the title. It’s three years of self inflicted wounds for the most part. And it’s stuff that could have been remedied if he just acted on it, stuff most people saw. And it’s not even much, add a couple moves in the post, a go-to in the mid range and down to the basket. The dude is likely the most athletically gifted player in the league, he’s 7 feet, can jump out the building, yet you can make him into an even better more impactful player, but under Bud instead he’s basically a hammer that sees everything as a nail, but you need some variety in your arsenal in the postseason.

Lamelo won ROY.

That was some amazing timing for an announcement they snuck in, but Woj got it.
