I know there's been some talk that the Knicks will trade one of the picks to move up with another or trade the picks to get a "star" (and I believe that's more likely) but IF the Knicks are a team that wants to big game hunt, isn't it good to use the picks to hopefully fill the roster with role players who are cheap and cost controlled?

I mean, Knicks had decent success this season with budget vets with Burks\Noel\Bullocks(retained)\Rose (trade) but drafting them at least gets a team 4 years - IF they draft right instead of drafting Knoxes and Franks

I doubt thibs plays the rookie anyway so go with the higher upside pick at 19….

Like a Zaire Williams or tre Mann if they’re available!!!!

Heck even bj Boston!!!!!!!!

Someone like that could still find minutes in the rotation. He's capable of playing off ball so Thibs doesn't have to rely on him to do much with the ball. He comes from a good program and brings experience so he might be a rotation player depending on free agency.

We got another pick right after 19 so if they wanted to use it on an upside player they could. Even with the 2nd rounder, there's options for an upside pickup there as well.

Fair enough!!!!!

I just don’t think we’ll use both picks and I’d rather go for upside with the pick we’ll use!!!!

We can always find another rotation guard via fa!!!!

But I get what you’re saying!!!!!

It depends on what the plan is. Moving one or both picks for what though? To move up in the draft? To trade for a player from another team? What position is that player filling? It just depends on the direction they choose to take. I'm fine with either a long term project with potential or a productive plug and play guy with experience, at 19 it can be either option.

Good to see the draft thread getting more active in the past week. Lottery is next week and the draft next month. Sooner than I thought. Looking forward to reviewing the prospects. With 3 picks in the 19-32 range we have lots of opportunities to get solid players.

This stuff comes up fast now that Adam Silver has decreed the NBA offseason only last 10 days now.

difference is he is a movement shooter. So there is value where you can run him off screens (pin downs or flare screens). So you can actually run offensive threats like Miami runs for Duncan Robinson.

I think there is value in that. I don't think any shot creator we are getting that late in the 1st is going to be an instant impact guy that Thibs trusts to run the show. We will need to acquire that in trade or FA.

the teams in the lottery gotta be excited/nervous. Even if you land a top 5...deciding what order they go outside of Cade #1 is going to tough. I don't think you can go wrong but its not going to be an easy decision. You can make a strong case for any of the next 3 to be the #2 guy.

He's also more athletic than Robinson

And at 19 he's going to have value even in trades. His guaranteed salary is going to be cheap enough where even if you wanted to flip him to a contender for more future value you can do so. But I'd definitely take a good look at him if he's available.

Correct, he can attack close outs with one or two power dribbles with a strong finish at the basket. Kinda has some sneaky athleticism. His age will get teams worried about his ceiling. But in terms of someone that can help and impact winning right away he has got to be looked at in our range.

He may have a similar impact as desmond bane.

Hes 24 so that is probably the main reason he will go later.

Seems like he could be a nice role player though....cheap Bullock replacement. I like him with a later pick.
