This off-season will be the most significant as Chris Finch Tailor's this roster.
I have the utmost faith in coach Finch to use his knowledge to craft this teams playstyle a tailor-made system. As we have seen, bigs around the league like Jokic, Embiid, and Gobert are having all-time career seasons for their teams and a big reason why is because their squads have built teams and playstyles around them that maximize their abilities.
Finch was intramental in utilizing Jokic a certain way that has turned him into the MVP of this season. He is going to craft this team around KAT, Edwards, and Russell in order to get better production and make us a much more potent squad. Already with limited practices and time we have seen what he has done for this team, there is a new energy, there is a more serious approach.
This off-season Finch with his hand-picked coaching staff and Rosas, will Hem the edges, adjust the inseam, and Taper the areas that need it. By next season the players will have a bespoke system that plays to their strengths on offense and defense. Finch is the kind of coach we needed from day 1 and with Edwards, Towns, and Russell he has tools to work with.
I really do think that this time, the days of us being awful are probably behind us. We still may struggle to make the post-season but we will be in the conversation. We finally have all the pieces we need to start making some progress. Chris Finch is a big asset and he is going to help us get to where we want to be. I'm already more excited for next season than I was at any point before last season started.

Finch either has to figure out how to make chicken salad out of chicken ****, or Rosas has to fleece some team in a trade this off season... maybe both.
Simply put we gotta get competitive in the regular season, step it up to be a play off team, and eventually acquire the personnel that can raise the bar post-season. Again, long long way to go.

If this team stays reasonably healthy and has some player development, it’s probably one solid move from playoff contention.

Just gonna throw this out there. We played 22 games without KAT. Our record in those 22 was 4-18. We currently have 48 losses and to be in the 10 seed we would need 11 less. If KAT wins you half the games we lost without him that means we are 2 away from the 10 seed. Now consider how many games we played without either Beasley or Dlo? We still have only 3 games with our big 3 intact. Ant also didn’t emerge until later in the season. Give us an extra 3 wins with Finch instead of Ryan and we are a play in team fighting for every win. We are solid big away from competing for the middle of the playoff pack assuming we stay healthy and our young guys keep developing in the offseason.

Good post to follow up Calinks. I agree with both of you. Right now I think we're on the playoff doorstep if not there with a healthy team. Give us this summer, training camp and a few new additions including Bolmaro and I'll put money on us making the playoffs. Easy bet. I haven't been this excited about a Wolves team since Kg, Steph, Googs etc. in '96. We are a better team right now.
Just think about the improvement we'll get from McD, Vando, Reid, and Nowell. We just need to get size, rebounding, and rim protection in a PF and we'll be in business. We don't even need the guy to shoot the 3.
I'd love to see McD start at the SF with Ant at SG to go along with Kat, Dlo, and ? PF. I'd bring Ricky and Beasley off the bench with Reid, Bolmaro and Vando. Looks pretty good to me.

The more I think about it, the more I think a strong PG that can guard the 1 through the 3 while also providing consistent shooting on the offensive end is what this team needs.
I know it sounds like I am stating the obvious, but the way I see there are four players under contract next season that are not locks to be on the roster—Rubio, Okogie, Hernangomez and Culver.
Out of that group, only Culver doesnt play significant minutes. If we can find a player that can take Rubio and Okogie’s minutes, I think that would be ideal. Suggs comes to mind as a player that can take on Rubio’s role on the offense and Okogie’s on the defense..
If Suggs were to replace those two guys’ minutes, it opens a lot for our roster, as we would have one guy making around $10m as opposed to two players making $20m..plus, we may even be able to flip Okogie for a big that can provide depth (someone like Daniel Oturu maybe?)
I realize we have to get incredibly lucky to be able to draft Suggs, but it would solve a lot of our problems. Would be a total luxury in having a backcourt with Suggs, Russell, Edwards and Beasley..

Some added depth would help with injuries, we saw how horrible we were without Towns. No one can replace him but we can get players that will fill that gap in better. We need to be able to be competitive regardless of anyone or two players missing some games. Having an optimal system will help with that but a talent/fit infusion is needed too.

You say that, and yes it is ideal, but look around the league. Take Thompson from GSW and even with Curry, Draymond, Wiggins, and Oubre they are play in. Take away Lebron and AD and Lakers aren’t even a lock to make the top 6. KAT is our superstar. We live and die with him. Beyond KAT the next most valuable is Ant or Dlo. Dlo is better at creating and more consistent from deep. Ant is better at driving and getting to the line. Beasley is the missing link, the guy who hits the 3 more often than not when left all alone. Unfortunately none of those 3 are strong enough as of right now to carry us without KAT. But give Finch an off season and proper practice schedule and maybe that changes.

Yeah I think if the Wolves can target and get Holmes either via unrestricted free agency using the MLE or sign and trade with Kings they should be a strong team if healthy.
A starting line-up of:
KAT
Holmes
Jaden McDaniels
ANT
DLo
Would be a strong and balanced starting lineup.

How good of a defender is Holmes? Like Vando, he has no range, so his offense comes from just finishes around the basket. He does have much better hands/touch than Vando.
It just doesn’t seem like a huge upgrade to me considering we are so close to the tax that we’re going to have to find a way to move a large salary out to accommodate him.

I think this is a really interesting read on Finch: https://www.nba.com/rockets/news/q_with_chris_finch_2011_11_10.html
It’s funny, because I’ve always thought of myself, in the purest sense of the game, as more of a traditionalist in terms of the principles of the game – winning with defense, etc. But I’ve also opened up my thinking to various approaches – certain things we use here with the Rockets – which also kind of dovetail with my own philosophies: I believe in a lot of player freedom on offense and basically no level of freedom on defense; high levels of accountability there.

Id be fine without a top 3 pick as long as we add much needed veterans and shooters

Not me. It's not really something we can't control right now, but a top 3 pick this year, "should" be better than a top 15-30 which is what I think we will be at next year draft pick or not.

If Rosas could fleece we wouldn't be about to lose a top pick after winning only 20ish games this season.
