can he finish at the rim?

can he make plays off the pnr?

idk...

maybe hes destined to be a Lou Williams type player.

Maybe, if he doesn’t improve. But I feel like he will. I don’t think you can get to his free throw shooting percentage without that drive.

Imagine having Ben Simmons or Tyler Herro on your roster , looking at them and thinking "no way would I trade you for James Harden"..........

I generally love Ben (But he's getting harder and harder to defend online with each passing playoff failure) but our core isn't a much better fit for him than Philly is tbh. He needs to go to a team that has multiple shot makers and a stretch big. Hard to find the right construct for him in today's NBA because his skillset is so different from most elite guys. He really needs to go to a team that doesn't have too much of a core set so they can build specifically around his deficiencies. Like Detroit, Houston, Orlando or maybe even OKC. The problem is those kinds of teams generally don't have anything worthwhile ,for a contender like Philly fashions themselves to be, to really target.

Wait you're saying that IQ right now is already a Lou Williams type player? If so he's not. He might...if he improves. But I don't think you realize maybe how good a player Lou Williams has been and still is.

Honestly. Some people are nuts. KP and Brunson together couldn't make it out of the first round either and that's with an MVP caliber Doncic leading them and they want to trade Randle for the two.

The writing is on the wall!!!

It’s BRADLEY BEAL time.... that’s who the Knicks are focusing now via trade.

Scott Brooks departing and I am feeling a youth movement is coming.

Beal fits in perfectly with Lonzo/Schroeder (via FA) and Randle (extended) with Mitch and RJ in the line up.

Rose/Quickley/Luca/Burks or Bullock (or both)/Toppin/Gibson - manning the bench.

Washington will have the 19, 21, 32 along with Knicks 2023 pick and Dallas’s. That’s 4 picks to get this done.
In short, all I am saying is RJ-Brunson-Grimes-Quickley-Randle are the untouchables moving forward.

All of these players will not be here if we get Beal.

I'm seeing Lonzo rumors on social media. Anyone else have this?

According to a source, the New York Knicks and point guard Lonzo Ball have a mutual interest in reaching an agreement. The source also said that the Knicks are not intimated by the fact that Ball is a restricted free agent.

Ball, 23, is coming off one of the best seasons of his young career.

He averaged 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.5 steals for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2020-21 regular season. He shot the ball at a 41.4 percent clip from the field and a 37.8 percent clip from deep.

Probably gonna take Obi + IQ + 19 + 21 + 32 + maybe even Dal 23 to get Beal. Overpay?

I would say you many be right but I doubt it will be RJ included in there. And Obi as well. Again this is my opinion. I doubt we include RJ and Obi especially with 4 FR picks going out. I would even think not include Quickley if we trade 2023 Dallas pick.

It’s all about who pays more for Beal and is there anyone who has a better package.

Just my $0.02.

Big time. He's not the youngest, nor is he a winning player. Just wait a year for LaVine and to see what happens with Zion and Luka.

Edit: I actually thought he was like 30. Didn't know he was only 27. Makes him a little more appealing in a trade.

How are those comments even related?

KP -- down year -- never got back to looking healthy
Brunson -- developing young role player

Randle -- first time all-star

Neither made it to the 2nd round.

The question in this is upside. Let's assume Randle is going to just be an all-star now. Worth ethic paid off. He is not going to be a fantastic passer, but a capable and willing passer. If you are in the camp that thinks KP is done, never will be a unicorn again and is basically 3-point Shawn Bradley or taller Bargnani then yea, it's bad. If you think that last year bubble KP is the guy you are getting, this is buy-low and he is already on his max so he is more of a fixed cost where as Randle is going to command some sort of max in a year or two depending on how big of a MAX he wants.

Why is the assumption that LaVine will hit FA?

Cause he is a 2022 UFA and the most the Bulls could offer him in an extension is 4/104mil

No.

We already have Elfrid Payton, why bring in the supersized version of him.
Who is good enough for the Knicks to.bring in? Every player available will have some sort of flaw.

Some of you guys want everyone regardless of fit because they're a name, in his case Simmons doesn't fit with Randle, RJ or Mitch. We don't play at a fast pace and don't push the ball in transition which are the only ways he can excel. He is literally an oversized version of Payton.

Is the plan to get Simmons and completely overhaul the roster around him?

Depends on what the goal is and what they can still do after making this trade.

Beal CLEARLY CLEARLY CLEARLY would become the best player on the team and he can create his own shots. He also clearly is an elite talent (and talent is needed to win in the NBA). For a real real high usage player and volume shooter his percentages are still terrific. He has also shown that, despite being a real high usage guy, that he can also get his teammates involved. And during he first 4 years of his career he was actually known more for his shooting than his shot creation. Maybe if the doesn't have to feel then need to carry the offensive load that his shots will become more selective and he'll be back at the around 40% shooter from 3 that he was early in his career instead of the 35% 3 point shooting he's put up taking a couple more 3's a game the past few seasons. You never know.

His contract is not Westbrook bad at $34 and $37 million respectively for the next 2 seasons but he does have a 15% trade kicker. So if they do make a plunge for him it will limit what else they can do to some degree especially if they feel the need to hold off any more big moves until next offseason. So it may put the pressure on the Knicks to 'complete' the remake this offseason. Not the greatest free agent class but there are guys that could help if you assume that Beal and Randle become your no.1 and no.2 guys. Is that a championship caliber duo? Probably not. But both are still well in their prime and you can still make moves if you can get both guys to continue on their current path. It's not always about "can you go from point A to Z in one season and, if not, just stay at point A".

I would expect that the package should be about what the Nets gave up for Harden. You can (easily) argue that Harden is the better player and that he's more likely to make his teammates better, but Harden is also 3 or so years older and on a bigger contract that will make it harder to make other moves. Is that package you proposed about the same as what the Nets gave up? That's the question.

I personally would rather Zach Lavine or Dame Lillard if we are going to trade for anyone involving mucho assets but Beal would not be someone that I would shy away from either.

I would think it'd be a bit more than the Harden trade. At the time, I recall everyone thinking Brooklyn didn't have enough assets to get James Harden and after the details of the trade went through, everyone thought it was an egregious deal and a fireable offense

Why wouldn't he test it? There were already murmurs about him being unhappy there and the moves to appease him so far are not panning out. He's either forcing a trade or testing free agency if things say as they are. Either way, we should be looking to preserve as many assets as possible and pursue the younger player if the talent is close. Give me the guy who is almost 2 years younger and 3 inches taller and could be available for nothing but cap space.
